i was 11 when i started with guitar and 36 the first time i played bass - two days later, i was playing bass in a band.

Began with a teacher immediately because I had never played any instrument and I wanted to avoid getting off on the wrong foot.

Began playing in bands maybe a year later.

I grew up playing saxophones, studied classical guitar in college and then quit music entirely for 13 years when my daughter entered my life. In my late 30's I started playing bass and gigging and never stopped, but did add saxophone and flute back into the mix, with a smattering of keyboard and guitar when required.

Teen years. Played trumpet and guitar before switching to bass.Borrowed a friend's Ampeg baby bass (EUB) for a while and got a my first bass guitar when I was 18 or 19.
