first pics of black sparkle. close up it kinda just looks like a lot of stripper glitter, or unicorn fart dust. but from afar it really does look ok.

I can tell that NONE of you have small children. That is ice cream "sprinkles" if ever I saw them. I have never seen them on a guitar but I suspect it's just as "tasty" (to the ear that is...)

I am starting to hate all of you who did not have your orders canceled like I did. :spit:..... I wish that the $199 price tag was still on MF as I would have tried to have used it to "influence" the SA guy to beat MF's price...

Shortly after authoring this, I discovered that Music123 had a black ATK300 listed in it's "used" section of their site for the same $199 liquidation price. The description was of a "gently used RETURN" and therefore classified as a "Level 2 or B" and therefore could be returned (if desired).

The one thing that was interesting is that there is a disclaimer "Our Lowest Price Guarantee DOES NOT apply to any used gear we sell" so they don't have to lower it to the $130.99 mark.

Once I ordered it, the "availability" went away for this as a used item so it looks like I may have gotten the only one available.
I'm figuring it was simply an oversight on the webpage and before long I will get the infamous "discontinued, not available" email...LOL

Just got Black 5 string a little while ago...

First impression is that it is very nicely built and quite different than anything else in my collection which includes a BTB 555, Spector Rebop 5, VMJ, SX P/J, and a Rockbass clone.

Feels comfortable when strapped up , a little heavy, feels about the same as my VM J. The neck and string spacing are tight, almost guitar like. This will take some getting used to especially after playing my BTB which seems absolutely huge in comparison. I actually kind of like the chunkiness of the neck which I thought I was going to dislike. Definitely a keeper though as the most of the tones seem to be different than my other basses.

For the styles of music I like to play it looks like I really need to force myself to play with a lighter touch then my other basses as I really didn't like some of the tones I get from digging in, but that's just me, to someone else this could be the attraction for this bass. As some have said this bass has some aggressive tones and it doesn't take to bring that characteristic out. It's also possible to EQ a nice thump tone similar to but not exactly like a P-Bass and well as get a nice bark at the other end of the spectrum. The Elixer stings seem nice. I'd be curious to see what it sound like with other brands strings.

Finally with my other basses being red or natural, black is a nice change from the status quo.

Music123 said they will not refund the price difference from 169 to 130.99 without "physical evidence" that a bass was sold at that price. Anyone got an invoice and or a price quote for a Red Sparkle 4 that sold for 130.99 that they would want to forward to me? She said I could email it in. She said it was already sold below cost. :)

Don't tell them you just want it for 130....tell them that they didn't adjust their pricematch properly. The 123% is indisputable along with your current invoice showing that they in fact did honor the price match.

Well I got my red sparkle, no picks, no cups, only a crappy cable. I'm sure I'm the odd man out, but I'm not digging the red sparkle, it's definitely way more over the top than I thought it would be. I"m not even going to play it, it's just going to go straight to evilbay/pawn shop soon.

I know you cant post in the for sale forum. but I'm sure someone here will PM you about it. I'd keep it in talkbass, let someone who missed the boat get a chance :)
