Ga. Boy to the core here. Born and raised in the ATL. Grew up in Tucker in the shadow of Stone Mtn.
On drums for almost 10 years around L5P in the punk/rockabilly scene.
Moved to N. Ga. ( Blue Ridge) in 2002.
I'm sadly on hiatus due to a young guitarist up and quitting without a proper notice.

Back then it was a "stone soup" type of gathering: we'd all bring chips or drinks, and a bass (or six). How do the GTGs go? And what is EAV?

Depending on when, I might be able to get in on this. But it's been almost twenty years since I've attended anything like a GTG, back when John Turner was hosting BoLs at his place, and I need some updates on protocol. I'm in the Old Fourth Ward - very close to EAV. Are GTGs usually at someone's house, or do they happen at a bar/restaurant/coffee shop type thing?

I'm down for a hang. I'm OTP South, but can travel. And willing to bring any/all of my gear that peeps may want to bang around on. Keep us in the loop.

Depending on the numbers, it could be possible to do it at our house or a venue in the village. Our place it would make the GTG more of social AND playing hang. My wife and I have a 14x11 jam room (which is tight) in the basement with a piano, decent drums and pa. We would have to finagle the amps to have more than 3 bass rigs at a time, but it's doable.

The good thing is that we can all head to the village for group hang, drink or feel free to head back and forth at any point during, we are one block to bars, live music and restaurants.

Chew on it, it would have to be later in the summer, like in August/September.

Yeah man, you have your bearing about right; Moreland is two blocks west of me and Glenwood is a block north of me. Glenwood runs from Grant Part thru EAV & East Lake towards Decatur.

I lived here for a decade ending 5 years ago, but more recently my wife and I moved back 2 years ago and have a night where we try a new joint each week; we haven't repeated a place on that night yet.
