Attack on Canadian Parilament

I agree. BTW the lawn in front of the Parliament looks like a fun place to be in the summer. I hope this incident doesn't change that.
it wont , we as Canadians REFUSE to cow-tow to scumbag terrorists, from the conversations I have had today , people are hurt , or angry, not scared or fearful. i know my CF brothers are itching to martyr a few of these extremists too , godspeed to our jets heading to the mid east to administer medicine to ISIS , Laser Guided , administered rectally and explosively

Can't confirm it, but apparently the shooter raised his arms and said "Allama Akbar" after the shooting of the soldier. Just watch, if the shooter does turn out to be a Muslim extremist, anti-Muslim hate will rise in Canada just like it has in the UK...and you know what, I'm all for it. Sorry if this offends, but its time we in the west started promoting OUR values and OUR culture and didn't succumb to the pressures of minorities to change our country.
Agreed , we get angry, not afraid

Yes, it has been confirmed the man was an Islamic convert. Before I go further, I'll address the people who have been bringing up the different sub groups of Islam and so on. While this is very true, many Islamic groups live in peace, there is no doubt a threat by some. It can't be denied. As a proud Canadian citizen, I value the safety of my fellow citizens above all. I realize many Canadians are themselves Muslim, and I accept that. Truthfully, after researching the main religions if I was to become religious (this is a stretch as I could never see myself being religious) I would likely become a Muslim based on the writings in the Quran. Unforunately, faith is a great evil in many parts of the world. While some can live in peace and prosperity, there are some ****ers that ruin it for everyone. I'm all for the reduction of faith and religion in the public community. Make it a private, personal thing. I don't want to sound like some Stalin fanboy, but again, the safety of my country's people and its lands are above all, most important to me. It'd be the same if Russians invaded, I'd be all for the destruction of any Russian influence in the country.

I'll admit, reading my comments makes me a little weary. I sound as if I should be standing behind a podium and slamming my fists etc. etc. Perhaps its just my anger on this horrible day, when one waste of space life form had to go and kill a proud Canadian soldier. Also, it said in the report the attacker shot the soldier in the back...when he was standing guard at this monument, a symbol of honour. I don't know about Allah, but I have no respect for someone who kills a defenceless man for some higher purpose...which seems to be the extremist style.

If Canadian equates military pride and being happy of our "engagement" in the middle-east....well.... I don't want to be Canadian.

Calm down fellas. You're sounding quite extreme right now.
I'm certainly not happy. Its truly tragic that in the 21st century we have to deal with this type of evil. The sad thing for me is usually I'm the first to accept everyone, encourage diversity, be your own person etc...but this religious bull**** is really weighing on me. Why can't we be happy just living in this beautiful place called earth and not have to dilute our minds with this "justified" evil of religion. This is enough for me. Peace and love, brothers and sisters, peace and love. Some will never share that sentiment... :rollno:

This is from the Pittsburg and Philly hockey game tonight. Good on you Pittsburg, good on you.

I can see your point. However when I see the disrespect for, especially women, but humanity in general that the proponents of sharia garner, I find it difficult to uphold neutrality.

We will not waver to these attacks. I am proud to be a Canadian and always will be. Put aside all sports rivalries, all historical arguments, all that bullcrap, I am proud to be a Canadian.

On behalf of my entire family and ancestors, we stand with you, Canada. Korea stands with you.

That's factually incorrect. You cannot say "muslim" mistreat women. Not every predominantly muslim areas mistreat women, FAR from that. It's not all Saudi-Arabia, Iran and Pakistan. Take the counter-examples of Turkey or Indonesia just to name two (there's many more).

FYI, female mutilation is primarily a *christian*-central-african-countries problem, like Eritrea and Ethiopia.

I said SHARIA guy. Use your brain.

If you were as smart as you purport (<-insult) to be you would know the difference. One is not the other. Islam is not sharia, it predates the system of law.

No.

Of course you said sharia, but that was out of the blue to legitimize your comment while we were not discussing sharia.
Mulism != sharia, the middle-east != sharia, what "we're doing" in the middle-east as very little to do with sharia and most muslim have very little to do with sharia.

So let's not get ahead of ourselves and legitimize ANYTHING "because of sharia".

I'm done here.

edit: feel free to insult me some more, I'm above it.
edit2: the mutilation was just an example of women mistreatment that is very often (and wrongly so) associated with this topic.

The shooter wasn't Muslim per se.. He was a home-grown Canadian who was a self-styled "convert".

The guy that ran down the soldier with a vehicle the other day was also a white Canadian.

As was the two Canadians in Victoria who tried to use a nail-bomb on the Legislative building there a short while back..

It's these home-grown ISIS ( before that Al Quaeda) wannabee sympathizers (sometimes "rogue" sympathizers) that are despicable.

We have our own killing our own.
