Attack on Canadian Parilament

The last post quoting V. Putin is what governments need to follow if they want to slow down what is coming.
Actually, has already started.
Canada, U.S., G.B, all european countries... any place on the planet is not exempt from this.
Africa is all but done-in.
I honestly think that a major portion of the global population just doesn't want to address it.
The states funding and supporting the radical movement will get eaten last.

Putin never made that speech. And this is neither the time nor the place for getting on to that very, very slippery slope, IME/IMO.

Prayers for the brave Canadian soldier who lost his life. Hoping that the other shooter(s) is nabbed and this terrible situation is resolved.
My apologies for my hastiness and my lack of research. Why can't we speak freely here? It seems no matter where this subject is brought up, it just gets swept under the rug because people do not want to be labelled 'racist' or 'intolerant'. Muslim extremism is not a Western issue, it is an issue for the normal, tolerant Muslims who wish to have their faith accepted all around. If said Muslims and their respective governments can't control extremists in their religion, expect that your religion will not be so fondly welcomed in foreign lands.

But one of the biggest difficulties we face is the sheer amount of guns floating around our a certain country we share a border with.

It's America's fault?? Really?

Do we know where the guns came from??

Do we know where the shooters came from??

No, and no.

Save the blame for the ones who pulled the triggers, and their co-conspirators, please.

I can't speak for other countries but the culture here in the U.S. is an ever changing conglomeration of many societies. It was once referred to a a melting pot. Also there really isn't any one culture here in the U.S. Take people from several places say NYC, San Francisco, Dallas Texas and Chicago and you will see that they come from different traditions.
The trick is to integrate the good parts of cultures from the succeeding waves of immigrants from other places while encouraging them to adopt their new home as their own. Hopefully we can reject the bad characteristics of these cultures and not let any one culture dominate the rest.
This is what has made the U.S. what it is and as far as I can see it has worked so far. Yes we have had lots of clashes and some conflict but that is to be expected as we continually re-create ourselves.
My 2 cents.

Sorry if I offended you, that was not at all what I meant. I was speaking about the general problem of trying to control gun ownership when you share a border with a country with different laws and practice regarding guns.

The way I look at it, terrorists win when a country restricts its own freedoms to fight a faceless enemy.

The calls for some type of war or action to stop the supposed Muslim tide also disturbs me greatly, as does the justification of an increase in anti-Muslim feelings or hate.

No matter what anyone has done in the name of a religion or idea, it never becomes okay to associate that with others who only happen to share a nationality or a skin colour or a religion.

Almost all religions have been used to justify violence or hate at one time, and Islam is no better or worse than most. There are all kinds if Muslims fm all different culture and nationalities, and a few lunatics in a desert do not make a Holy War, though they are trying to by getting the rest of the world to believe they speak for the religion and for the citizens of caliphate they want to create.

Most of the citizens of the Middle East are VICTIMS of these terrorists themselves.

How do we even know that the shooters were for the ISIS? For all we know, they could have just been normal Canadian citizens who strongly opposed the government in general and not just their decision to send CF-18s to the Middle East in support of America's manhunt. They could just be random criminals seeking to cause havoc and eff **** up, you know?

Unless we know for sure and it's confirmed they ARE part of some sleeper ISIS cell, then we really can't judge or come to conclusions. Yet.

This is sort of an answer to certain deleted things as well as some that are still present... :

Careful with the "muslim", "islam", "salafism", "jihadism" and etc. There's a lot of contrasts, subgroups and generally speaking really different ideologies involved. There's a whole spectrum of way different things that can fall under the muslim label and one must be very careful as to not generalize.

1.5 billion people or so are muslims folks, lighten up. There's no such thing as the "muslim world", "muslim countries" or what ever easy and factually incorrect generalization some people use.

Whoever it is did damage to us. Horrible damage.

But

THEY ARE NOT TEN FEET TALL. THEY ARE NOT STRONG COMPARED TO FREEDOM AND HUMANITY. THEY ARE EVIL COWARDS AND WILL PERISH AS SUCH.

This goes for today's perps, extremists of all descriptions and even simple street thugs.

No need for alarm. No need to turn parliament hill into an armed camp going forward. Resolve is all that's needed.

Thanks to you that send support. To you that are shooting your gates off, TAKE OFF EH!

There was a photo of a woman doing CPR to the wounded canadian soldier until paramedics arrived. What bravery and class act.

I'm glad the situation is under control. Thank goodness one of the shooters was neutralized before things got worse. Thank god for the JTF and police m
JTF had nothing to do with it , it was RCMP, and local enforcement , and actually the guy who took out the scumbag was the sergeant at arms (head of security/ceremonial position) of the Parliament , a retired RCMP officer . pumped the guy with a lot of hot lead love , he deserves an Order of Canada for his actions IMHO
