Audere got it right!!!

My VM Jazz had an Audre when I received it, I had a batt box installed because there was a problem with the batt cutting out...but I would recommend installing the Audre:smug:

I have had no problems with that, i learned my way around the controls within a day, and my bass sounds like a million bucks. i recommend blend with the mid instead of just vol-vol bass treble, i was worried about being able to change sounds quickly and accurately but my audere is spot on all the time.

I just bought and installed the JZ3-2 band + tone in my jazz. This is an amazing preamp. FWIW- I find the vol-vol is louder than the Vol-Blend with both pickups 100%. I also find that the two bands are much better eq points.

With the 3-band, the Low EQ seems to only effect the E-String and lower. With the 2-band, E-A-D-G are all boosted perfectly in harmony. Also the Treble EQ is situated better to actually bring some upper mids along with the high eq point which mades the strings come alive much better than the 3-band.

The EQ is perfect though, and I got it in 2 days from Dave @ audere (same hour shipping on a friday). Amazing!

What I get from this: Get the 3-band if you have a 5 stringer, and the 2 band for a 4 stringer. Got it. :cool:

I'm a huge East (J-Retro, U-Retro) fan and have several basses with those preamps but I got a Nordy VJ5 with the Audere a couple days ago so I'll post a comparison when I've a little more time with the Audere (I've only had about an hour on it through a Pandora headphone amp only). My initial impressions of the Audere vs. the East is quite favorable considering the Audere is around half the price, although I must admit that other than Wal electronics the East preamps are hands down my all time favorite. I'll post more here when I've had more time with the Audere.

Well I think the three band sounds killer! For me, it is one of the rare 3 band preamps that have a useful-sounding mid-boost..the F-Bass preamp is another. The EQ points on the Audere 3 band are well chosen and the boost range allows for slight alterations to the tone (or large changes, but within a reasonable range). I have the deluxe, with the 5 Z modes, but think I'd be happy with the preamp without that. In my experience, the bass knob affects all strings.

That said, I could imagine being happy with the two band version too. The three band is sweet though.

I put the 3-band in my FrankenJazz and it is AWESOME! One of the best sounding Jazz basses I have ever played. I was thinking of changing amp heads before I installed this (going from Eden 550 to Thunderfunk 750) but I am so happy with the sound of this new preamp through the Eden that I have decided not to change heads. Now THAT is an excellent preamp when it can cure your GAS.

PS. Dave at Audere got it to me in 2 days. Even called me to make sure the delivery address was correct. Highly recommended!!!
