AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

neat. A 1x12 with no horn. probably weighs 20 lbs. I would prefer the tweeter or horn though.

Yep, for me a full range tweeter of some sort is absolutely mandatory. And especially so given how well Duke integrates them.

LOL...if I lived in NYC I'd find a way to not need a cab at all!
A good deal of the time I don't. But for rehearsals, the occasional gig and for recording, it's worth having.

Yeah, I know. When I lived in Boston and Seattle it was the same way for me too.

so i've had the c1203t for a while now. i've been comparing it to my h1203 (v1) and tc112 (v1).
fwiw, some of (my) observations (ymmv):
it doesn't have quite the (big, blooming) low end of the tc112. i don't know whether it's due to being a slightly smaller cab (right duke?), or that the speaker and ports are a little off the ground, so there's less coupling effect. to my ear, this is most noticeable on the low b string.
seems like the mids hit my ears first, so there's an *apparent* "lack" of low end, but when i've recorded it (two mics in close proximity, it seems to have plenty. it might possibly be a *more even* low end. also, listening to some live gigs i've done (room mics or vid cameras), it seems pretty even and doesn't seem to lack low end. (i'll probably do a little more home recording this weekend to further explore.)
the highs seem to be more balanced than the h1203. possibly due to the mids being pretty present. almost feels like the highs are more "connected" to the lows (if that makes sense
). with my 12-string (6x2 basses), it seems less glassy than the h1203, but fuller/more even.
the c1203t (like all the ak cabs i've played through) is sensitive to dynamics, nuances of attack and overtones.
anyway, my musings so far . . .

This approach worked well for Aguilar users who liked a multiple cab set-up vice a double driver cab. With a regular cab and an NT version they got a lot of flexibility.
Thats what I was thinking plus space is tight in my rav4 when I am schlepping PA gear
Revsound also has single speaker (10,12,15), no-tweet cabs that are built to stack and mix/ match. The Rev 2x8 has been getting some xlnt reviews.

LOL......yeah, sure.....Ronda was a bit offffffff.......Loved that Fodera but it was so big and heavy I couldn't even play it and was afraid to hurt it.....lol......yeah, you were charming....I even let you try my AK's with your Fodera and you ordered some AK's the next day......lol....all kidding aside, if all buyers were like you two we'd be back in the 50's when we didn't lock our doors....it was a pleasure having you over.....

Hey, hey, Loopee. Nice to hear that you're still getting out to play with friends.
Would one of your Tots handle the jam space? Maybe you could, at the risk of seeming snooty (but only a little), bring the one and your preferred head. If there are any other bass players, you could share with them, which they will appreciate if they're at all open to new things. If not, you're bringing good tone with you to share with others -- like bringing a bottle of wine or snacks to share at a party -- which is a generous and friendly thing to do.
Still, I can relate to trying to get a sound I like out of a rig I don't. You might try swearing -- I find that helps. If swearing at the amp doesn't help, try glaring at the other players like they're doing something wrong -- barking at the guitarist to turn down the lows on his or her amp sometimes helps, but, if it doesn't, say something deceptively complimentary to get them to do what you want. (I haven't actually tried this -- I just read about it in Miss Manners -- so, if you do, let me know how it works.)
You could also just roll in with the 'Tots, be honest, and say, You know, I have these lovely cabs at home that I rarely get to play with others. I wanted to bring them along to enjoy them here and share with you. You could even introduce them to the Tots and tell the story of how they got their name and how they were made by a Duke in the faraway land of Texas.
Okay, I'm being silly. You're the one actually going there -- you'll know what's best to do, whether it involves bringing a Tot or two or making the best of the graciously provided rig. I'd be sorely tempted to bring my cab, but I think that shows!
Speaking of rolling, if transport is difficult, you might try finding a nice, lightweight folding cart. There's at least one thread about them on TB -- I even posted in it, asking for advice on which cart to get (I still stubbornly transport bigger amps on occasion), but I never got around to picking one up. I worry about stuff sliding off and adding bungee cords and more wheels to my life seems complicated -- I'm sure that it doesn't need to be, though -- heck, I know an area player who uses one for his rig and small PA -- but I guess I'm just used to grunting and bracing my core.
If you did put one of your Tots up for adoption, I'm sure that emjazz would take care of it and take it out for regular exercise (if I recall correctly, he gigs in New York), but, if you are enjoying the two, well, he'll just have to get a puppy or something.

LOL.....thanks Mark......yes, I've often thought of bringing my Tots to the jam space but I've spent so much $ in pedals the last 2 years, pedals I bought to try to help that "poor" bass rig provided for us by the host that I'm determined to find the "right" pedal.....yeah, right....and that sent me on a real roller coaster the last 2 years....I have 27 new pedals and love them all but still can't find the "right" one though I got really close last weekend. Bro Studio One with the hlpf, BugCaster #10 and SH 5th Gear V2. That sure sounded great with my shortscale Landing with 2 Dark Star pups. Mind you, those DS pups are tone nirvana by themselves. I haven't brought the Tots, because, and that might be hard to understand, there's not enough room left in the bass corner for more stuff. The rig provided is a Yorkville combo (15 in speaker) with a 15" extension and it's just too much and too boomy for that room. But I'll be damned if I don't tame it somehow. My ego is in this one.....lol.....I can always get good tone from any amp (except this one and I'm going to tame it). If not I'll bring my Tots but I don't want to leave them there. And yes, I have the cart and bungees but I don't have to walk much and can park within 20 feet of the doors so I can carry them. I might just donate them to the space. The other bass players have been happy to try out all my pedals....so it's not a total loss. Once every summer we have a BBQ party outside and I always bring my Tots then, so they've all played them and I always get the same look when they're playing them. Those little things?.....OMG.....
But yeah, it might just come to that.....bring the Tots and get it over with.....lol
I find that it helps make my point if I slow down for a moment in front of the other rig, put my nose in the air, and sniff audibly as I walk by... Hmpff! Like that. If I have a hand free, I will throw my scarf across my neck at the moment of sniffing. (If I am not wearing a scarf, this can be awkward.)
This shows people that you have standards and is a sign of professionalism. Just because you're at a casual get-together with friends doesn't mean that you should be unprofessional.
On another note, it's nice seeing the kids playing so well together, don't you think?
