I've had a C112T for a bit less than 2 years, and have gigged with that single cab, with great success, in venues that hold from 200 to upwards of 500 people. A few months ago I added a H1203 (to use alone at smaller venues and in tandem for larger ones). I've recently played a couple of outdoor gigs using both cabs, and I've been stunned by how big, deep, clear and (for lack of a better word) "enveloping" they sound together.

I'm not exactly sure what a "rig of doom" is supposed to sound like, and I'm not sure I'd actually want one. But if 'heavenly" is what you’re after, this stack comes pretty close.

Great Pics Folks! Keep em Comin'. Also if any of you have sound clips I would very much like to hear how these things sound. As I posted a page back or so I am mostly interested in the 1505 cabs but I would happily take a listen to your 12" loaded cabs :thumbsup:

I said I wanted loud so Duke recommended two of the H1505s for my situation. I put the deposit down yesterday and received a lead time of 14 weeks. Can't wait so now I am looking for as much info and sound clips as I can find.

My experience is with the ThunderChild cabinets, so I can't comment on the sound of the H1505s, but I can comment on loud. I used a pair of ThunderChild TC115s for quite a while, driven by a Genz Benz ShuttleMax 12.2, and the sound level they could produce was frightening. Large outdoor gigs without FOH was no problem at all. They were deep, smooth, not boomy, balanced, and punchy. I'm using TC112s now since they more than meet my volume requirements.

Since you say so: Lo-fi recording of Hathor 1203, posted awhile back, showing different switch settings.

My understanding is that the 1505 rolls off a little earlier up top but has more poke and grind in the mids (with the "grindy switch" up) if you want it.

What cab configuration are you playing now to get the volume you want? My 1533 alone gets as loud as I'll ever need when I feed it 500 watts, but the sweet sauce for me is the fact that it allows me to get ample volume even powered only by my 300 watt Walkabout.....so I get to use my favourite head with a single, superb sounding cab that's under 40 lbs!

@RColie : Thanks! I started going through nostatic posts last night. There are a lot of them so will take me some time. He is a great player and his rig sounds killer too. The version of Peg he did with Steely Jam was just great.

@MarkA : Thanks for posting. I am away from my headphones this morning but what I hear on my tiny speaker cellphone sounds pretty good. My cellphone can't do it justice though so I will give it another listen with proper headphones this afternoon.

@lomo : That's the problem. I dont get the volume I want now. have played through a GK MB210ii for the past several years. It has always been enough but with this most recent band (joined a few months ago) I am no where close to being able to keep up. We have 2 guitarists (one doubles on keys) that both use 4x12 cabs and a hard hitting drummer that also has a kit with built in triggers that he runs into a drum module and through his own SR gear. We are so loud at practice/rehearsal I bought some -22dB noise reduction ear plugs. I have gently mentioned the volume thing to these guys, but me being the new guy I don't want to push it. Using the, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em mantra I will use this as an excuse for new gear. From what I am reading I think 1 H1505 might work for my situation, but Duke recommended two, so two it is. They are also the 4 Ohm only variant so I need to also pick up a 2Ohm capable amp. That will probably be a Mesa D800+ or WD800 because I have been GAsing for one of those too. If I dont I do have a Trace Elliot ELF(200w), Hartke HA3500 (350w) and a Hartke LH500 (500w) I could use with a single 4Ohm cab until I can pick up a 2Ohm capable one. Hope that helps.

I did a sub gig for a band like that a few months ago (they actually had a gig) and I naively went to the first rehearsal with a Markbass combo. My Hathor 212 was capable. A pair of 1505s will end the cold war.

There is a chamber for the rear firing speaker.
In the hathor that space is available. More air volume in the cab. So its deeper.
I'm guessing the 2db volume gain in the hathor has to do with less crossover stuff going on. I'm trying to recall how Duke explained it. Hopefully he can add the correct input.

That is what I gathered reading through this thread as well, however the website still mentions the 1505 and when I spoke to Duke on the phone and in email he referenced it as 1505. I have another email out to him asking about this and which mid driver I will actually be receiving, but I haven't heard back from him yet.

Great to hear you like your 1506. Where I live (which is about 3 hours driving time North West of Charlotte) there are no locations within a reasonable driving distance I can test out any high end gear, so I am buying based off of as much Internet research and online sound recordings as I can find. Speaking of such, do you have any recordings of your 1506 you can upload or share?

No recordings that would really reflect the soul of that cab. What we have recorded would be colored by FOH and captured by some mobile type device.
