AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

Stoked to be in queue for an H1203T!

Gotta say, however, after reaching the 400-page mark of this thread, I’m considering seriously changing the order to a C1233T (C112T).

From what I have read either an H1203T or a C112T will sound similar in the sense that they go a bit deeper than the the H1203 or C112 (C112T going a tad deeper than the H1203T) And the C112T has a bit more high end clarity than the H1203T. It’s the C112 rear-firing midrange cone that brings a little 3D sound to the stage that has me intrigued. Having the band / audience / soundmeister / me hear the bass clearly is a big deal. Either tall versions of the H1203 or C112 would work well from what I can tell. But it’s that 3Dish sound that is causing the brain synapses to convulse with ecstatic low-end gyrations!

So, for those of you have (or had) the privilege of playing both of the H/C tall versions, would you consider the C112T or the H1203T as your primary or go-to cab? Or does it kinda depend on the musical genre/style/venue?

This wouldn’t be an issue, of course, if I would get one of each :) but my better half would have a conniption fit (x infinity). So, in the near term, the AK cab would be the primary cab combined with an Acme Low B112FR cab (8ohms) for larger settings. I figure the Subway 800+ amp plus the AK cab will cover most venues superbly.

Oh…one other question: In tiny stage areas, keeping the cab a foot away from the back wall is a good idea. But what if you can’t do that and it’s more like 3-inches away from the wall? Any difference you notice between an H1203 and a C112 (aside from tweaking the ports)?

Kudos in large doses to you all who have contributed to this thread! Very informative! :bassist:

Ive never tried the C but my Hather 1203T has sufficient dispersion and midrange for that matter. Im sure the C are amazing, but for me I hear fine and the less bleed into other mics the better. Im sure others will differ though.

I have both the c112t and h1203t
Play thru a d800.
The hathor does go a little deeper and louder due to more internal space.
The changeling has a little more acoustic sparkle if you will. Hard to describe.

Both are absoloutly amazing.

I kinda like the hathor a little more but ive gigged the changling a little more for no reason than i usually just grab one cab at random because its all i need .

So the space taken up by the rear-firing mid driver makes the h1203t sound deeper than a c112t even though both have same external dimensions?
Exactly. There rear firing mid is in its own chamber on the changeling.
On the hathor its open space / part of the 12 inch .
The volume difference is minimal.
Both are very loud. Dont miss it on the changeling. But technically a 2db difference if i remember correctly.

i think the crossover sits in the bottom of the c112t?
I popped the port tubes out of my C112T yesterday (a zip tie broke on the board and I had moved the cab and heard it rattling around so had to replace it). There is a board on the bottom of the cab that has a lot of components on it. Suffice it to say that it’s very busy.

Hello. Is that a fact?

I'm not challenging you. It's just that I can't recall hearing this said about Duke's bass cabinets. Thanks.
No not a fact. But the class d sure fit on them better.
When i was shopping for these cabs alot of the users on here were usin class d heads with them.
Dukes cabs work great with anything.
I wasnt trying to pigion hole them.

It’s true that most tube amps fit on top of the 15’s much better. And the sound......

I wish I could say I'd had the pleasure of playing both. I can only tell you I've had zero complaints about the tone of my C112T, and would heartily recommend it.

In fact, I'm hopeful I might be able to give it a bit more of a go now that I have a 5 string again (picked up a Dingwall Combustion recently). Unfortunately I live in a unit block, so letting it rip is a little hard. I miss being able to rehearse properly...!

I hear rooftop concerts are possible. Some band did it a while ago and it was pretty good. ;)
