Haven't read anything to dispel my gut feel for the situation. As I initially stated, Duke's integrity is off the charts, of course he'll fill every outstanding order. That's what he has committed to do - nothing more.

We can only control to some extent what happens in life to the person staring back at us in the mirror. And even that is debatable at times!

I just recently grabbed my second 1203. Both are the 1 port version.

So far my preferred configuration has been no port plugs, both switches up on the bottom, mid switch down on the top. I’m using a 76 PBass with flats. I’ve yet to rehearse or gig with both cabs, so that may change.

Where in Michigan are you? I’m up in Traverse City.

That's how I'm running my single H1203T in most situations.

When my 2nd AK cab arrives (C112T), that's how I will initially pair them as well.

Venues will dictate tweaking as needed.

Duh -- my bad!

Fighting a cold -- somewhere in my muddled mucous state-of-mind I equated the H1203T / C112T 4 ports with the H1203 3 ports.

Concept is the same -- leaving 1 (H1203) or 2 (H1203T / C112T) ports open for awesome AK ambiance!

I actually have the H1203/C112T combo. On those rare occasions when I've chosen to use both cabs (although, truthfully, one or the other by itself has almost always been more than sufficient for my circumstances!) that is exactly how I've used the plugs.

Running one cab, I usually have both switches up. Running two, sometimes I'll put one or both down on the bottom cab -- the idea being that the highs are coming more from one location. If I wanted more high end live (or just wanted a different presentation), I wouldn't hesitate to flip the switches up on the bottom cab, though.

I often play with the port(s) plugged, though -- not because I don't like bass, but because I dig the tight thump and clarity that running sealed (perhaps with a little compensatory boost in the lows) brings. If I want a bigger, more full low end or the openness and volume that the open port brings, I'll unplug it. Depends on the mix, the room, and how loud I need to go. (I'll bring a second cab before I push one hard, but, generally, you can go safely louder -- and boost the lows less -- with the port open.)

On the newer cab (I have an older, one-port Hathor 1203, a newer, three-port version, and a Changeling 112), I sometimes like running with one-port open.

Your reply is appreciated. My first post on the subject, several pages back, was at first idle musing, but I do enjoy the back and forth here during this period of zero gigs in SF Bay area. I'm a huge Duke supporter, he's done all of us a solid with his one hand carry cabs with the big sound, not to mention his great ethos. Indeed, this long-lived thread would not exist but for Duke himself, so if you'll permit me to employ an exaggerated metaphor, would you attend Bible study but refrain from discussing God? ( Duke will be laughing at that! )

Pretty much my MO, too. I run two single port 1203s, stacked, for thick sound at low volume. I start with open ports, bottom switches up, top switches down, and adjust from there according to room, other players, etc. I always use an Auralex pad, smaller for the 1203s, large one for the 1506.

I have no dog in this fight, but I will say that you might possibly be making Duke’s tough situation even tougher with your speculation... or you might be making his products much more sought after by giving people the impression that they better act fast whenever he starts taking new orders. Who is to say, but if I were Duke, I’d prefer that you didn’t make such statements publicly. As far as the Bible study analogy goes, it would only fit if you were going in there and telling people not to tithe because god might be retiring. Just my opinion and observation.

The facts are simple for me. Duke is one of the finest, most honest, up-front people I've ever done business with. He's dealing with some issues like we all have to face at some point(s) in our life. He has been refreshingly transparent about that and IMO is managing expectations for those who have placed orders...and offered refunds for those who would prefer not to wait. I can't imagine a more responsible and respectful approach.

I have no idea what the future holds for anyone (including myself), but I am 100% confident that Duke is a man of his word with as much loyalty to his customers as we have for him. At least in my mind there is nothing in any of the above facts that precludes Duke from continuing to make bass cabs for decades, and I do know the man is passionate about his craft.

I only wish everyone I did business with had Duke's style and class when it comes to appreciating and serving customers.

Unfortunately the Rona remains strong here, looks like it'll be awhile. There's a limited bit of jamming. One possible silver lining is I'm learning lots of bass solos, normally not my deal. Maybe I'll try & ease up on the posts!

@DukeLeJeune when is the guitar cab coming? One of these days I have to get a TC.

At this time I don't plan on doing the guitar cab. Imo at best it still would not be enough of an improvement to be worth an uphill battle in the guitar world.

I do plan on continuing to build 112 bass cabs. I will do 4/8 ohm 115's until I get low on woofers and then I'll stop and hang on to a few in case anyone blows one, but the 112's use an off-the-shelf woofer, which vastly simplifies things on my end.

... are you ever going to make another tc118?

I would very much like to do an updated TC118 cab, it already exists "on paper", but I need to get caught up before adding any new products to my line.
