A common issue with electric keyboard players.
Don't let it go too long, but offer your comment as constructive criticism.
Throw the upper switch on the back of the cab to disable the horn and try the lower switch on the back in both positions to cut (down) or boost (up) the mids.
You'd be crazy not to at least go and try it out with your own amp head, if possible.
However,
Defacing a Thunderchild cab by trying to convert it to something else is a heresy. Don't do it -
Just continue to look for a cab that really suits you and your style
I stack my TC112 on top of my TC115 sometimes for larger outdoor gigs when no electric bass rig is provided.
Awesome wall of beautiful bass tone. My cabs are both 8ohm and I use either my Genz-Benz Streamliner 900 head, or my rack rig with a Demeter VTBP-201S Tube Bass preamp and Stewart Wolrd 2.0 power amp.

Not the best pic, but I received Lenny's Hathor 1203 yesterday and gave it a run to make sure it had arrived safe and sound! He's a great guy; we had a nice talk on the phone and I really enjoyed talking to him!
There's a lot of extra presence and slam that happens with that second 1203 that really makes having two of them a great idea if you play outside and/or on larger stages. I can't imagine needing more than this for anything I'll end up doing in the future. I ran both switches down on the bottom cab and both up on the top, and it really seemed to work great for me.
I need to do some maintenance on my original, as the newer one is cleaner than the old one and I never purchased a cover for it. These are the earlier one port models - I seem to recall reading somewhere that Duke started using different corners on these at some point. Does anyone know if the original type are still available? I have a couple of broken ones on the bottom of my old one.

I'd go listen to the Thunderchild anyway. It is anything but your typical horn loaded cab.
I couldn't agree more. The Thunderchild doesn't sound like "a cabinet with a woofer and a horn-loaded tweeter." It sounds like a single speaker with a ginormous frequency range. I'm currently using a TC15-UFT, and the frequency response and clarity are fantastic. I felt the same way about my version 1 TC15's too. These aren't "colored" cabinets with a baked-in sound like the Hathors. These are more like studio monitors.
I recommend that you try the cab that's in your town. You might find that you really like having a cab that actually sounds just like your bass.
One more amen. A Thunderchild has never made me think “horn”. It is the smoothest passage through the minds to the highs that I’ve encountered. That said, I’m looking forward to a Changeling, to see what those AK paper mids are about.

One of these days I have to get a TC.technical report: AK stack ( single port 1203 x 2 ) bottom switches up, top switches down, ports open, D800 set clean as a whistle, + 2002 bob glaub P bass w/old nickel low riders = casady's growling tone on live 1970 " candy man " track.

The power amp in my rack rig is actually the Stewart World 1.2 power amp.
this afternoon i put the 1203s in their covers, hooked up the 1506. looks kind of ominous sitting there on it's iso pad. i know what it can do.
Say what? Got an email from Duke not long ago that my C112T would soon be completed. I emailed him back telling him to feel free to take care of another customer or two before completing my C112T (as I'm not in a huge hurry to get it since I'm thoroughly enjoying my H1203T).
I may be mistaken, but as far as I can tell, Duke is working big-time to catch up on orders (and is not taking new orders until he is caught up).
I FINALLY got to use my Changeling 212 with a full band. Absolutely phenomenal! I’ve been waiting all year to see what this baby’s got, and it did not disappoint.
