indeed. i think they replicate aggressive playing techniques pretty well.

and i second the attitude about burning the candle at both ends.

proves it's good to be able to fix your own gear a little bit.

Closing the Summer Concert Series at San Juan Capistrano with Steely Jam. Brought out the big guns - TC112-8 and H1203. Once we got through soundcheck in blazing sun and 95+ temps, the gig was a good one...plenty of booty.

So a couple of potentially silly questions (and sorry if this has been covered already) - is performance of a cab (say a tc112) affected by whether it's standing upright or on its side? (I don't think so, but double-checking). Also, can the tc cabs daisy-chain okay or do they each need their own output from the amp (I thought I read here recently there were some issues with daisy-chaining)? Thanks! DM

The daisy chaining issue was just one single miswired cab. I'll let Duke post specifics, but cab orientation often does effect things like dispersion pattern, boundary reinforcement, maybe cooling, and amount of room for beer on top of the cab.

As Steubig and Passinwind stated, you can either stack them upright or on their side. Stacking them upright will give you the best projection and place the top cab closer to your ears, while stacking them on their side would result in a physically lower "stack" and would probably result in some less than optimal results.

As far as the connections go, yes the inputs are parallel. What you are referring to is an issue that a couple of the users had with phasing. Minor issue that Duke addressed a few posts back.

Actually, I'm going to experiment with stacking them on the side. I realize it might not be optimal, but it might work.

Thanks for the quick and helpful replies! I'd like the ability to add a tc112 to a tc118 at times and laying the tc112 on its side on top of the tc118 (and then an amp on top of that) makes the most sense physically (putting the tc112 upright on the cab would be a little weird and putting it on the floor next to the tc118 would make the tc112 feel inadequate or something (I'm short so I can make those jokes)). I guess I'll just do a little trial and error but good to get this input. Thanks again, DM

R Baer talks about the sonic differences in his cabs when they are on the bottom or the side. Most of it is how the higher frequencies hit your ears. Some if it is coupling with the ground. That's my short amateur answer :)

i guess i was thinking about the horn firing more into the ground or your ankles rather than higher up. i was also thinking that you probably weren't going to gain much on the footprint either.

but i didn't see that you were thinking about having a horizontal configuration on top of the tc118. i wonder if that would create weird phasing/time align issues? (idle speculation)

The reason that I was considering trying the horizontal configuration is because of setting the Monique rack on top. It is in an SKB case and will hang over in the vertical position. Not a problem if it is stable. I'll have to try it out and see.
I could always place the SKB beside a vertical stack instead of on top.
