I recently did a head to head with the tc118 and tc212. They were more similar than I expected and, despite my initial comments a week or so ago, the 212 seems to go about as low to my ears (though I don't take more than 2 port plugs off the tc118 to tame the low end (I usually keep them all in), so keep that in mind; with the 212, I usually have 1 or 2 plugs in to tame the low end). The 212 is a tad punchier/crisper. The tc118 is thicker/bassier but still very clear (not sure if that's just the horn or the horn plus the super rear-firing tweeter). The tc118 is definitely for low end lovers who want their bass to support and be the bottom, not sure you'd want this cab for hi-fi slappy stuff or soloing. I'm sure both cabs can be EQ'd to be even more similar but I didn't have time to try that.

Thank you Dee-man, that's a bit more like the info I was looking for.
Now I'm really torn between the two (TC118 & TC212).
I think with the right amp (or EQing) the TC212 would work for me really well.
I bet the TC118 with a Demeter preamp would be killer (...for my taste...Yin/Yang thing going on).

H1203 switches

I got this info in an email from Duke the other day. I've read about the switches in the H1203 but this is a very clear explanation.

The upper switch toggles between fullrange (12+ kHz) and a gentle roll-off kicking in at about 3.5 kHz. The lower switch toggles between a somewhat aggressive upper-mid voicing and more smooth upper-mid region. UP is LOUDER in both cases, so max SPL is both switches UP, but the most "hi-fi" setting would be top UP and bottom DOWN.

These switches are a great addition to these cabs. I really like the change that they make. They are nice when using different cabs too.

I plugged in an amp to my TC115 . . . no sound. Time to start trouble shooting.

Update: I opened it up and a speaker wire was not connected. After I connected it, I got sound from it. I turned up the treble on my amp and could get a hiss out of the horn so I’m assuming it’s working.

Anyone using a TC for guitar?
I have done it a few times. Sounds good overall, but I was really pushing my shuttle 3.0 (300ish watts) into clipping. Then I remembered guitar speakers are much more efficient for guitar.
Gonna use a HPF next time, that should help a lot with both the sound and headroom.

On the 1203, yes you can notice a difference. I love having the switches as tonal options. They are not like huge differences, but they do make a difference, one that you can actually hear.

I find that it also helps when using different heads.

Apparently I failed to adequately tighten up the input connectors on Freddels' TC115, and a connection rattled loose in shipment. I went finger-tight with my left hand, but it's weaker than my old right hand was, so it looks like I'll have to gingerly use pliers.

If you're talking about the 1533E, I put in an inquiry with the owner but haven't heard back yet.

If you're talking about the 1533F#, it hasn't been shipped to its beta-tester yet.

Here's a description of the 1533E, taken from post 1609:

4 or 8 ohms; 98 dB; 500 watts ballpark (the woofer is a Faital 15PR400, rated at 400 watts, but safe to use with a "500 watt" amp); -3 dB at 70 Hz (and -5 dB at 62 Hz), so it's low-B will be weak (hence the "E" designation); 22" tall x 17" wide x 13.5" deep; 30 pounds.

The 1533F# will look virtually the same (bigger dustcap) and will weigh more, and here are some preliminary specs:

4 or 8 ohms; 93 - 94 dB; -3 dB at 46 Hz (the first overtone of low-F#); 1000 watts ballpark; 22" tall x 17" wide x 13.5" deep; 38 - 39 pounds. Its woofer is the "baby brother" of the woofer in the Hathor 1855... same motor, smaller cone.

A "low-B" version is also theoretically possible, falling in between the other two weight-wise, but it would only be available in 8 ohms.
