AudioKinesis Cabs V!!!!

Yup, same cab. Light, loud, well built. Will one of these replace my nv610 as a gig cab? Probably not but, I like it alot more than most small cabs and it is the easier to move than any other that I've owned. Once I start recording my you tube videos, I'll do a review of this cab and compare it to others.
Actually, I've done the math and the nv610 has nearly 1173 VD and the pair of hathors would be about 926vd. So, the nv drivers really have good specs. My ears even told me this when I was comparing the nv to the dual 3015 cab that I had which had roughly 1000vd.
The berg drivers have that much more Vd than b810's and more mids? Those are some impressive drivers!
Every Berg I've ever owned has FAR exceeded the performance predicted by those who try to guess at what drivers his OEM versions are based on. He's the magic man as far as I'm concerned. Of course, so is Duke in a different way. Only two cab brands I gig
Each nv610 driver has around 195 vd and the B810 is 165. I have no idea how that works with sealed cabs but, they are special.
I now have 20+ hours of break in time on the hathor cab using 25hz at 10v. It made a big difference when compared to being brand new out of the box. More and smoother low end, removed a slight midrange honk in the woofer. I have to use alot of eq boost on the shuttlemax 9.2 to get it where I like but, thats what knobs are for and it does sound great. I'll be using it at practise on monday night, maybe I'll post a video. I'll be doing a comparison of the nv610, Hathor and xsonics cf212 very soon. I want to get them all in the same room (I'll have the xsonics in about a week and a half) so that they can be compared in the same environment, same day, same wear on the strings, etc. to be completely fair.
I'd like to hear what the Hathor sounds like both before (flat) and after your EQ tweaking. That would be a huge help in getting a mental tone profile. If....you have the time.
Im going to make my first video just explaining what I use in my rack, my bass, strings, etc to get it out of the way. I hate demonstration videos that are 90% talk. Then, I will make a demonstration with each cab flat, with a few eq changes, some od, distortion, etc. to give a good idea of what each cab is about. That way guys can compare the different videos fairly. With the next couple of weeks I'll try to get all of the cabs down to my buddie's jam room so that all of them can be compared fairly. Kjung and JGR are the ones who do this best and I'll be using them as my template. My only problem is that I won't be able to turn the cabs up to gig volume without the cops making a visit to my house. Although, alot of that won't translate well to video anyway.
If you don't mind can you take a picture of your new stack. The Audiokinesis look so good.

Ken's videos are what introduced me to Bergantino which I bought and Baer and Acme which I was very tempted to buy. They were a great reference point because he often had more than one cab in the video so you got a sense of comparison in similar circumstances. That's so much more useful than a one rig video where you don't know how much of the sound is the room, the player, the strings, amp etc.
One of the hathors had to be sent back do to some issues during shipping. My current eq setting with the genz and hathor is bass 3:00, low mid (all the way left) 3:00, high mid (2:00) with high mid gain maxed, treble 10:00. Woofer and mids run with switches off. That gets me something similar to the nv610 but clearer. Feels faster under the fingers too.
I tried shooting my intro video but the lighting in my living room was creating some issues. I'll try again after dark, if that doesn't work I'll wait until all of my cabs are ready and shoot videos all afternoon at my buddies rehearsal spot. Did you ever forget how pale you are when you live up here in the north and havn't seen much sun for awhile? I did. I need to go on a vacation or tanning. It's been between -15f and -10f here for over a week during the day without the windchill.

Sympathies on the cold Kringle. I can relate. It got so cold here this week I almost had to put on gloves. Brrrr.
When you list your settings I take it that 3:00 is a time setting - 3:00 o'clock as opposed to 3 out of 10. Either way I'm puzzled that that low mids are all the way left 3:00. All the way left would be either 7:00 or 0 out of 10 to my way of thinking. I'm sure I have that wrong but can't figure out how.

I have some Canadian customers who experience cold like you do. Last year we had a very light sprinkling of snow that only covered the tops of the grass - you could still see green under it. I took a picture with a ruler measuring the depth of the snow and sent it to them with a note something like: "We're totally freaking out here - almost 1/4" of snow. School has been canceled for the week and our office is closed until the snow plow comes through."
It's fun to live in the south.

I think he means that the low mid frequency knob is all the way to the left and then the low mid level knob is at 3:00.
Yup thats it. Boosting bass to 3pm, 120hz 3pm, 2.5khz maxed, treble 10pm. The cabs natural voice is pretty flat with a slight lowmid bump and very rolledb off lows. All the boosting I do in the lomids and lows is to mimic the response of a wall of 10" drivers.
Are you really sure you need that much boost?
That's a crazy amount of headroom being sacrificed, in order to radically change the tonal character of the Hathor.
Having heard the TC112, 115 compact and 115 composite, knowing how Duke voices his cabs, and how small the difference is in the low end response between the Thunderchild and Hathor, I can't imagine needing that much low end boost. His cabs aren't exactly bass-shy...
It almost makes me wonder if you've chosen the wrong cab for the job.
Im not lacking any headroom. I picked a great cab for my needs. To approximate the nv610 but clearer, I need to twist some knobs. It is a 6x10 vs a 1x15 you know. Anyway, these are just rough adjustments and opinions. I'll use it with the band on monday and go from there. I've played a TC112 and think that it's native voicing was alittle bigger down low. Im sure of it. This wasn't designed to be a big low end mud monster. It's clear and articulate. But, punchy with alittle grind. Just alittle. Again, my neighbor won't allow me to really test this thing out right now.
