Audioslave breaks up...

Hopefully this means RATM is back together. I like RATM and Soundgarden (although I must admit I like RATM better) and I also liked Audioslave. The 1st two Audioslave albums were good, with some of the same energy of their former bands. The last ablum draged on a little too much for me. With Zach back in the mix, Rage will kill! Plus, with the political climate the way it is...it's perfect timing.

I liked most of Audioslave's first album and Revelations, Out of Exile, not so much. They were a decent band, but nowhere near as good as either Rage or Soundgarden...

I feel kinda sad that they broke up, I guess. Not that much though. They had a decent run.

But I am VERY VERY VERY excited at any sort of prospect of a full RATM reunion. That would be incredibly mind-blowing...

Isn't Cornell's wife his manager?.......never a good thing for bands.

Susan Silver? Ex-wife.

"Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has filed new papers in his ongoing lawsuit with ex-wife and ex-manager Susan Silver stating that she was never actually licensed to manage Soundgarden and should therefore return every dime she earned while they were under her care. He's also previously claimed that she diverted funds due to him to his former bandmates, and that she's generally been doing "cranky" things like holding on to his Grammys, assorted lyrics, etc.
Cornell and Silver parted ways in 2002 after being together for 12 years."

I didn't plan on commenting here but I just hate to hear this over and over. I dont understand why everyone NEEDS to constantly compare bands to previous bands that included same members. I mean yes I understand they have the same musicians in a new band, but think about it. It's not as if Chris, Tom, Tim, and Brad got together and said, "Let's start something new because it is going to be better than anything we have done. Better than RATM, better than SG."
In reality, four people got together to pursue what they love doing. And if I'm not mistaken, everyone here also shares the same passion for music. And thats all they're are doing. Creating, playing, and sharing music.
Sure you can have you own opinion. love/hate rage, love/hate SG, love/hate audioslave, and any combination of the three. That's fine. That is the beauty of it all. We all have our own preference and own opportunity to listen to what we like. However, I don't find it necessary to critisize something of this matter.

Whatever happened to listening to music for the music? You know, for the original purpose of enjoyment? It's as if we have gotten so far beyond ourselves that we have forgotten to just listen. :scowl:

And by the way, I am a fan of all three bands. And I would very much love for Rage to get back together, I've never seen them live:rollno: ....

I understand what you're saying, but I find it very hard not to compare AS with RATM and SG because AS contains strong elements from both bands. It's not as if AS is a completely new musical direction, new style, etc. They not only share musicians, but also elements from previous bands. Obviously that's unavoidable, but I don't think it's something that should someone back from comparing all these bands.

(if that makes any sense)
