+1, and I'll fall over dead with surprise if the Avatar 212 comes even close to the 153 in terms of low end extension , quality of low end and mid definition. Not sure about absolute volume, but my $ is on the 153 for that as well. I've been A/B ing it quite a bit with my LDS 15/6 and with the LDS mid dialed down to 50% they sound pretty much alike with my usual flattish eq (minor cut around 600) and hack fingerstyle. Can't comment on slap or tap. Chords/ dble stops ring beautifully on both of them. With 600 watts from an M6 this thing is stoopid loud.
is this just an assumption? The 212 is supposed to put out quite a bit of low end while still maintaining good mid and high definition, curious to know which one would win in this category. Also would be curious as to which pairing would be the best. a B410 with a B212 or a B410 with the new avatar 115?

Sorry I haven't been following the details of all this, but if the question is whether the 153 or the 212 would win WRT lots of low end + good mids and highs, it's the 153 without question. The 212 has a no-man's land, response-wise, from around 2500 Hz to 4000 Hz. I could be off 500 either way on each figure, but you get the idea. Doesn't bother me in the least because the music I play doesn't require the bass to "go there," but if you want good+crisp mid definition, then the 212 is not for you. I have two of 'em, BTW, and wouldn't trade 'em for the world. They have a massive, muscular, authoritative sound. Beefy-sounding, as opposed to a balanced/commercial sound. Hope this helps.
The 212 will have at most around 600cc of displacement vs. the around 900 of the 3015LF, and I believe the calculated low end sensitivity of the 2512 II is around 94db, maybe 95db.
With that in mind you can expect two of them to be about 97db, right about the same as the 3015LF (computed to 97.5 or so).
With that in mind you can expect that the 3015LF will take around twice as much power down low IIRC.
That mirrors what I've heard from those 212 cabs perfectly.
@bassmusic17: no worries, just wasn't sure you weren't referring to something new.![]()
How about that 1515/66 though!? Any reports on how that thing kicks?
As I understand it, the fEarful 1515/66 is referred to as "The Impaler" for good reason. Mntngrown's LDS 1515/66 will be similar.

Now that's the kind of real world analysis that is useful for understanding how these cabs sound! Still not as good as hearing/playing them live, but now I think I really get how they might perform in the real world. Despite all your praise for 12s, your last sentence reaffirms my opinion that the TB153 will be right for me and what I'm going for. How about that 1515/66 though!? Any reports on how that thing kicks? Must be quite nasty!
AWESOME analysis--thx! (So the TB153 & fEarful 15/6 will blow-away almost any 4x10, the closest equivalent being a high-quality 4x12.)
Is it being done to spec?

You know, I may be running the BL600 with the limiter on. I have to use it with my new Schecter Diamond P Custom, or it clips the input. I was using my SX with Dimarzios yesterday and typically dont run the limiter, but probably left it on. I bet this thing is a lot louder than I was hearing. I'll check when I get home.
OTOH when the amp was cranked most of the way up, oh man was it growling![]()

I have a pair of DIY 15/6/1 cabs and have only used 'em together a handful of times on gigs, with my bass/drums fusion duo. The last time, the band that played after us looked like they were gonna cry, and they were all scary alt-metal types. Their faces got even longer when I told them I was 'only' standard-tuned. Good times...![]()
