Had the exact same configuration. Sounded awesome, but I got tired of logging two cabinets. The 212 was sweet. It's nt a 15, but it did a heck of a job. Sold it. The 410 is still going strong.

You'll like what you hear.

Best of luck with your decision.

I've got 2 Avatar cabs and both are great sounding cabs, especially for the money I paid for them. I don't think there's another cab company that can give you that kind of quality at such a low price. Carvin has a better selection, since it's a bigger company and has been around longer, but Avatar makes a great cab. If you want just a straight 2 way 410, 210, 212, or 112, I'd go with Avatar. If you want a 3 way cab or something bigger I'd go with Carvin.

I really like the idea of a 1x15", but from what I've been told (and read) a 2x12 should have the same benefits without the drawbacks. I know there are a ton of people here who use Avatar (probably for good reason), I was hoping to hear from some people with experience with both or went from one to the other.

Thanks for the comments so far, guys!

I've played through 115's (non-Avatar) and I own 2 Avatar 212's. I was wondering if I was going to lose any of the low end growl associated with the 115's that I was using when I switched. I was kind of surprised when I heard the 212's for the first time, plenty of growl and a little more punch than the 115 provided. They handle the low B string just fine but IME I found that they work much better when running either a 410 or 210 together with it at 4 ohms. I've never tried the 4 ohm Avatar cabs. All mine are 8 ohms.

I have carvin cabs and just got a pair of avatars yesterday (unfortunately, the speakers in the avatars turned out to be blown. so I can't compare the drivers)
well, as far as the cabinets themselves... I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either of them. they are both EXTREMELY well built, very solid, my carvin cabinets have been through hell and back. I have NO complaints about carvin speakers, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them... But like I said, I haven't heard eminence yet, so I might hate carvin after I hear them.. anyway, SINCE I have no complaints about carvin, I'll probably reload my avatars with carvin speakers since they are a LOT cheaper than eminence.

Which would you choose, and why?

Music style is mostly classic rock, amp is Peavey VB-2.

IMO, you're looking at the wrong Carvin line, dude. Check out the BRX Neo cabs - not the BR cabs. One BRX 10.4 Neo should do the trick. But if want to really rock, get two of 'em...and a new Carvin B1500 head that'll dish big power down to 2 ohms...

You def need to check out the Carvin Neo cabs, there not given nearly the props they deserve. I played thru the B410 and decided on the BRX10.4, the BRX cost about $200 more and I feel it's worth every penney, simply it kicks serious ass. I play a BX1200 head with the BRX10.4 and nobody that's come to see me has ever said anything, but how great my rig sounds. My bass is a '08' MIA Fender Jazz V, just in case your wondering.
