What amp will you be using?

I'll be getting a Genz Benz Shuttle 9. I can't wait to have such a light and portable rig. My old rig was an SVT 4 and eden 4x10xlt, which was a workout. Now my cab will weigh a little more than my old head! And my new head will weigh about the same as my cables?!? Sweet....

I also thought about getting it in tweed, but I don't want to mess with having to lacquer it afterwards.

My post wasn't meant to dog them...and I said that if they sound good to you, they are good.

Here's a thread discussing the subject (only 410s, not 210s)

Judging by the charts on US Speaker (thanks Count Bassie), the Kappas don't seem to be that bad... unless I'm reading the charts incorrectly.

I'm not sure who the reference was earlier about "respected TBer" suggesting something and I guess like you say, it doesn't matter if I think they sound good.

Ultimately, that's the deciding factor and I'm glad to have this cab. I should get a Little Mark II or III soon and see if I can blow this thing up with it. ;)

Been there, done too much of that! :hiding:

I have 2 kappa B210s and a B410neo. The kappa speakers are actually mid bass P.A. drivers. They sound better to me in the mid and top end, but cannot come close on the low end, compared to the neos. I sure wish I could combine the tone of both with the weight of the neos.

As far as weight, the kappa 210 weighs in pretty close the same as the 410 neo. I think the kappa magnet is 60oz.

Your feedback is appreciated.
I'm looking to get 2 Avatar cabs.
scenarios:
2 210 NEOs (8 ohms each)
2 SB112 NEOs (8 ohms each)
1 210 & 1 SB112 (8 ohms each)

Obviously I want to get volume out of the setup. I will be powering with a 350 watt (@ 4 ohm) head. I think the 112 will offer a nice tone, but would 2 of these be adequate for medium to large size gigs with PA support?
The 210/112 setup seems nice with a combination of both types of speakers - will the 210 drown out the 112?
Would 2 210's give me enough low end?

Thanks!

I have a pair of SB112s and they make a great couple. I would comfortably use my Carvin BX500 + 2 SB112 stack for nearly any gig that had adequate PA support. I would imagine that a vertical stack of B210s would be at an advantage for volume but I really love the sound of Avatar SB112 cabs (and the B212 for that matter). I haven't used an Avatar B210 or B410 but I'm confident that they'd be great.

There are quite a few users that enjoy the B210 x2 setup and have no trouble being heard. I haven't had any trouble with my SB112s but I haven't gigged them or taken them to any loud practices.

Revisiting this thread has reminded me of how badly I need a 4 ohm B212 with the matching covering and cloth grill. Then I'd be in business with a 412 stack featuring a combined load of 2 ohms. My BX500 and B1500 would be unstoppable at that point. ;)

That would look great on top of this:

I wasn't completely satisfied with my 212 neo/LM2 rig as it was making some funny fuzz/hiss. Then one day I was playing and packing peanuts starting flowing out the bottom. Now it sounds awesome!!

Are we still giving out numbers? Hook me up!

I'm in the N. VA/Washington DC area and was wondering if anyone has an Avatar neo cab I could play through. I'm thinking about getting one, but it looks like there's no trial period.

Thanks in advance,

Tom
