Cool! I recently bought one of Dave's Scratch and Dent speakerless Vintage 2x12 cabinets and loaded it with an old Celestion G12M-70 and a Vintage 30 style speaker (Carvin GT12-75) and it just kills with my Bugera 1990. My Egnater Rebel 20 seems to like it too. It's a HUGE 2x12 guitar cabinet!!!

I use a GK 700RBII with an Avatar 2X12. Love how it sounds...I have a Sansamp Bass VT box in line as well for added oomph. Now, if I could just play this setup OUT instead of in my little bedroom studio...

Running 2 4Ω 112's you'd get 250W per speaker, so you'd be fine. Depending how loud you play you might want to consider 2 8Ω 212's which would give you twice the speaker area for not that much more weight and size/portability.
Thanks. I assume you mean 2 8ohm cabinets. I just couldn't remember if the power was split between the cabinets when using 2 or if it would be the same to both of the whole power.
What do you think about the 2 112s for sound. And the 2 212s isn't really viable for space and money restraints where the 12s are a little smaller and more portable.

Sound quality is very good. Check the threads a lot of people run 2 112's and like it. I've only played through their 212 once at a jam, but it sounded fine to me. I'm hoping to buy another 112 this winter.
Greetings, all--this is my first post (ever, on any forum, actually!). Thanks for being here, and sorry this is gonna be a long one...
About 6 months ago, this granny became a bass player
--one of the bands I'm in "lost" ours, and I was offered the position (a totally fun change from hand percussion, and I still get to sing!). I already had a sweet old Fender Mustang (named Leo), so we went to our local used gear store to get a rig for my first gig.
Although I'd been reading online about Neo speakers and lightweight bass cabs, I pretty much had to settle for something here-now & affordable that sounded good with my bass, and I wound up with an Ampeg B2R & a Hartke 410 cab.
Leo sounds great, but the Hartke cabinet weighs almost as much as I do, and I'm officially tired of waiting for help at gigs to get my rig set up (can't even get it off the truck onto the dolly by myself!), so I'm looking to replace it with an neo cab (or cabs).
Also, I probably will eventually replace the B2R with a lighter head, but at least I can carry it, so the cab is more important.
I've read so many reviews, and (usually) great things about Avatar...and then that awesome green tolex option sold me!
Sound? Well, this band plays original rock (with occasional ventures into faux-Reggae
). So far, we've played churches & outdoor festivals (with & without PA support). I want a defined, warm low end, and there very well may be a Birdsong 5-string in my future, so good lows are important.
I've already exchanged a couple of emails with Dave at Avatar. He said "Our 410 is the most popular stand alone cab..it goes nice and low with lots of punch too. You could get two 210s if its easier to move around but it costs more that way....people definitely use the 12's stand alone sure and they have lots of low end...so yes a 212 would be fine...just more people do the 410 ...but either are fine as a stand alone...If you want the lowest bass possible, then 12s are the ones to do."
I checked the Birdsong site to see what Scott recommends for the basses he builds, and he likes any brand single 115 (which Avatar no longer makes...), but likes the cab to be pretty much transparent, which I've read Avatars are.
So these are my options (I'll finesse the watts & ohms thing later):
1.) 1x410 (at 65 lbs., not my first choice)
2.) 2x210s
3.) 1x212
4.) 2x112s
5.) 1x210 + 1x112
I'm kinda leaning toward Option #5, but sure could use some

Welcome to TalkBass!
I'm a big fan of mixing speakers of different sizes, so option number 5 sounds like a good one. Option 2 is also a good one because you can stack the cabinets vertically (making a vertical array one speaker wide and four speakers tall) which helps the low end and makes it easier to hear.
If you go the Avatar route, Dave will take good care of you!
After kicking around my cab options for ~2 months, I've finally got a plan 
The Avatar B212N I have now need a friend, but it's 4 ohms, so I emailed Dave who'll sell me the replacement drivers to shift its impedence to 8 ohms. The kicker is that when I replace the drivers, I'm also gonna swap out the tweeter for an 18Sound 6DN510 or whatever their 6.5" driver is. Since I sort of have a built-in crossover in my 800RB, I'm gonna wire the 6.5" driver directly up to its own 1/4" on the back of the cab, then plug that into the "high amp" on the 800RB. Put another 2x12 under that and I think I'll be good to go!
Has anyone else swapped out the tweeter for a mid-range driver on their B212N? Sorta looking for advice from someone who's done that before.

If it were me, I'd go for Option #4: two (or possibly three) SB112 cabs, eight ohms each. Match those babies up with a Nemesis EN700 head - which is 2 ohms-capable (550 watts @ 4 ohms, or 700 watts @ 2 ohms) - for a great-sounding, super-portable little stack.
If you use two cabs, each one draws 275 watts. If you use three cabs, each one draws a bit more than 200 watts - more than enough power to generate ample SPL for just about any club gig.

that is the setup that I am thinking about getting. I have a WTX500 head from Eden which only goes to 4ohms and does 500w. That would do 250 to each cabinet. Perfect. For every type of show I play.
I have, worked just fine and stacked well. Sounded like pretty much more of the same only a bit louder since I was running a two ohm load. I didn't like that the one 4 ohm driver was getting more watts than the two 8 ohms but I couldn't discern a difference in volume between the two cabs when they were stacked. It also sounded a touch deeper.
Would you say the increase in volume was worth having the 112 in the statck? I have a 112 now & will be getting either another 112 or a 212. If I go the 212 route, I'm curious if having that 112 stacked on top would help out on a larger venue.
planning on dumping my peavey 115 to replace with a avatar 210 or 112, currently own a avatar 210 that this will be paired with. looking for opinions on which way to go 210,210 or 210,112
Greetings, helpful folks. I have to confess I'm getting cold feet about ordering Avatar cabs unheard... (I keep remembering that I played my bass through the same head with different cabs at the local used gear store before I bought my current Hartke 410, and there were definitely differences...)
Is there anybody in Northern California (maybe even the Santa Cruz area?) with an Avatar Neo 210, 112, 212, or even a 410 they'd let me come plug my Ampeg B2R head into, to hear how my Mustang sounds...?
