Avocado!!!

I tend to find that food can vary drastically between one taqueria and the other down the street.
These regional differences you guys are going on about can be found to vary just as much on the local level.
I dont think SoCal or NorCal has any claim to better Mexican food.
Ive had great, and not so great, food from both areas.

Hard to disagree with the logic. Assuming you get the right bread (Amoroso), the same can be said for "Philly" cheese steaks across the country

Ooh, that sounds pretty tasty!

Theyre on the appetizer menu at BJs, but I dont see why one couldnt make an entree of them.
And they are really tasty!

I guess I just take issue with people claiming that theirs is the best for what amounts to "because its made here".
IMO, good food can come from anywhere and isnt better just because its made in a certain region.

One of the things I don't like about avocados is that I haven't figured out a way to make an entree out of them. Give me some egg plant, bok choy, or any number of veggies and I'll make a killer entree. Avocado are more of a side dish or garnish. :atoz:

Anyone have any good recipes for avocado entrees?

Slice the avocado in half remove the seed. Slice in half again so you have quarters. Fill the seed hole with crab.

Take some nice slipper bread or rolls and slice them in half. Spread the top with crab, avocado and tomatoes. Cover with monterey jack cheese. Broil quickly until cheese melts.

Crab and avocado is a great combination.

Yep, this is pretty much what the California and California Special Rolls are. So good!

Any other topic California related seems to get a lot of hits as well. Maybe its just the same 5 guys posting in each of those threads too. I dunno.

Pretty much. Any Cali-centric thread will bring out the 'fornians.
Though, I wouldnt be surprised to see that there are more posters from California than most other states on the forum.
IIRC, a poll was once taken in OT, and California and New York (or maybe it was New Jersey) seemed to have more respresentitives on board than most other locations. I think the UK ranked pretty high as well.

Haven't read any responses as I'm not very interested actually :) but curious if anyone knows anyone who eats avocados like apples, skin and all. I do. Well did. He recently passed away, but don't think it was because of that.

I love organic avocados, and guacamole. Can pass on some of the non organic ones as they really do taste different, and can have a weird texture to them.
