Awkward bass

Hi. A local seller offered me a weird p bass with a stingray pickup near the neck. Should I purchase it? It is very cheap but i don't really know if it's a real fender as the seller claims. Here are some photos. Thank you all.

Update, the seller told me that it is a fckin Frankenstein made out of a Squier a and a mim. Should I take this risk?

I don't recommend either one save your pennies.

You have not told us yet how much the seller is asking. Without that information, it's hard to advise you.

I wouldn't pay more than $50 for it but then again I wouldn't want a bass with an MM pickup in that position.

Buy it and a new pick guard. Remove the unholy demon-spawned pickup and cover the hole with new pick guard. Cream would be a good color.

Hello and welcome to TB. You didn't give enough information to determine whether or not you should buy. Is the bass playable? How does it sound? Do you need another bass urgently? Is the neck straight and comfortable with a functioning truss rod? How does this compare to your other bass(es), if any? If you decide to buy it and flip it, will you lose your shirt? At least the seller was honest and didn't lead you to believe it was a one of a kind prototype from 1958. Bearing in mind that it's a mongrel with a strange neck pickup and lacks collectability, for the price is right, go ahead. If you don't like the bass for any reason, either pass or try to flip it. Hope this helps.

I'd go 100 bucks for it. If I didn't like it then I would part it out and easily get back what i put into it.
