Double Bass Baby Bass megathread

Well I did it and bought the Ampeg/Azola reissue. Sounds good even with 10 year old strings. The owner liked the sound so much he never changed them. I might change them and put some Spiro Solos. The neck feels a lot different than my BSX Allegro. Feels easier to play, almost like a BG. I need to get a new bag for it because the original bag is a bit worn. Pics to come soon.

Bob gollihur offer gigbags for baby basses ...

OK fellow baby bass players. Describe your technique/approach to playing the baby bass. Since I've been used to playing my BSX Allegro it's taking me a bit to get used to the baby bass. The Allegro has an attachment on the side which helps me balance the bass. How do you balance the bass? Also do you lean the bass or hold it straight up? I'm finding myself putting the bass straight up and using more of a slab technique instead of upright technique. Do you do the same?

Of course, there are lots of differences between the acoustic double bass and the baby bass. But the most important for me is the fact that the standard DB pizzicato technique (plucking the strings with a downward motion) doesn't work on the EUB. Plucking the strings that way on the baby bass produces a percussive "thud" that sounds very unpleasant when amplified. On the other hand, plucking the strings with a more "classical" approach (pulling the strings with an upward motion without hitting the fingerboard) produces that round and clean tone expected from a BB.

You can see the way I play my baby bass here.

Can anyone help me out in figuring out how to get the M.O.G Shop in Colombian to send me my order?
Been emailing them and haven't got any responses..
Only a lady named Luz Ortega has been writing but no shipping info and it has been about 2 1/2 weeks!!
I only ordered a Pickup, gig bag and a end pin system..
Does this take months to get? just want to know just in case I'm being to rushed..
