Double Bass Baby Bass megathread

I just posted this in the Baby Bass thread, but here is my rig:

I am using a GK 700RB into a Hartke VX215. (Actually, I think I am using the GK 1001RB in that picture, now that I think about it. But I am using the 700 now)


I LOVE this rig. I've tried alot of gear and settled on this setup.

I bought the gig bag that is listed a couple of posts above. It is made by Jentzen Ruggiero in Miami. I received it today and it is overall a good bag. My Ampeg Reissue fits snugly and feels very well protected. The material feels durable and like it can take a beating. The one gripe I have is the hole at the bottom to allow the end pin to stick out. In order to accomplish this the zippers are split to make the hole. This will concern me if I'm caught in the rain. Also to provide extra security velcro is used on each side of the hole. This is a pet peeve since most of the time the bass will standing up on the floor which in turn crud from the floor will end up on the velcro.

Overall I think the bag will provide a good gig experience. It costs $169 plus $30 shipping for a total of $199. A Mooradian would be nice but it costs 2.5 times more.

I have an original 60s Baby bass in wonderful condition. One oddity though - it has a curious chemical-type smell. Its not unpleasant but it is odd and its enough for my wife to insist on the bass not being kept in our living room! Is this the foam inside having changed/reacted over the near 50 years of its life and is there anything that can be done about it? Thx!

As far as I know, no. Ampeg baby basses' body is made of a thermo-plastic called UVEX, which is unstable and melts at a very low temperature. The typical Ampeg baby bass odor is due to continual out-gassing by the UVEX.

i remember my first experience making a mold, obtained from an Ampeg ...the reaction was at the instant ...durying 4 days...

i suggest use this:

depending of the previously orders ...
in this moment i have 4 orders ...
this instrument are elaborated all ,for me ...i don`t have employeers ,and i check all requeriments for make a good instrument ...
is neccesary separate quickly the turn for make your BB ....frequently, i receive orders ...

if you need a good and finest instrument, please and separate the order ...;)
