Bacchus, Show 'em if you've got 'em!

Here's mine. It's a Limited Edition (super-flamey) 4 string Twenty Four MIJ. They only made 30 of these. I got the 5th one. And btw, this is my first Bacchus. Took me quite a while to finally decide to get one. But man, I can't even describe the joy I felt ever since this baby arrived at my door and when I plugged it into my amp. Such a wonderful bass.

I'll play too. I don't have a Bacchus but I do have Needmoney's light blue Jazz in the shop. These are nice basses indeed for the money, it's just too bad they're boat anchors :D
This one weighs in at about 9 1/2 pounds, which considering it's a non contoured , slab, Ash body doesn't seem unreasonable at all. While it does weigh more than my Alder split coil P's, it seems to weigh about the same as your garden variety Fender Jazz.

Has anyone heard about the new models? The craft series, the global series and the jayro (Rickenbacker models!)?
I believe the global series are handmade, but in the Philipines. A bit cheaper than the handmade series.

Btw just ordered a BJB 420, black satin finish... I can't wait!

Hello Bacchus lovers,

I'm the happy owner of a beautiful Bacchus Woodline ash 5 for three months now.

Have some of you installed an onboard preamp into a passive Bacchus ?

Don't get me wrong, my bass sounds realy great but I'd like to have the possibility to make quick change on the flight during gigs. I'm the kind of player who keeps his amp's eq totaly flat and adjust the tone on the bass.

Have you got some proposals of pre that could be installed easily without any modifications in the bass body ?

Thank very much.

Regards

Bacchus has a few loyal enthusiasts, but not much love here probably because it's not a "boutique" bass, coupled with the fact that they are not that well known outside of Japan.

To answer your question regarding pre's, there are a couple of drop-ins available, check out the J-retro or the Audere. I have both, each has its own merits, but they are two totally different beasts and depending on what you are looking for will probably satisfy your need for tweaking the tone from the bass.

Hello Alembicf1x and thanks for the reply.

I'm looking for a pre which still have a passive tone control in addition to active possibilities. In this regards, the audere and j-retro pre do not match my expectations.

I've seen a few pre that have a passive tone control but not sure if they will fit in the passive cavity
-Glockenklang
-Nordstrand 2 bands
-Aguilar OBP1 (not sure about this one)

Best regards

Ludo

Here's a preview of my custom shop Twenty Four 5 (mahogany body). Unfortunately it had to be sent back as they forgot to put binding on the neck, and some ferrules so that it could be strung thru-body. :hmm:

Hopefully I'll be getting her back in a few more weeks.
