Bad luck in the classifieds....again

I don't get any joy from complaining, but I have to let it out somewhere. I had a bad experience buying a bass from a tb'er, regarding which I had to file a paypal claim to get any kind of a refund back. Trying to keep a positive attitude I figured "well these things can happen".

That was last month. Recently I bought a pedal that was advertised in our classidieds here, and again there were serious issues that were not disclosed in the advertisement. The seller doesn't acknowledge any issue with the pedal, but offered to give a refund if I sent it back.

Well I sent it back, seller acknowledged receipt, states that there is no issue, and ceased communication. Really makes me feel burned again through our classifieds.

I hope you left negative feedback in both instances. Most people will not check it (or don't care if they deal with somebody who has wronged/scammed another member) so feedback is mostly for the person leaving it but some of us do care. I know I am greatly irritated everytime I see one notable scammer pop on (he's always active in the classifieds)... one who hides his profile (probably the only member to do so and for obvious reasons) and still feels like they're welcome to be part of the community... and the community is always friendly to the douché.

Thanks, I left negative feedback for the first one, and I didn't do so lightly. I hate putting a blemish on someone's record. The second one is currently ongoing, so I'm waiting to see what happens. Unfortunately he claims that "I've been a member here for x years and have x number of good feedback, there's no problem, you just don't like the pedal". The denial and spin doctoring syndrome.

Stop buying used gear and all your problems will go away.

I agree with the message, delivery could have been better, like....

This is one of the reasons I don't like buying used.

I got sort of burned a little here once too. Clear, yet undisclosed issues with the bass I bought. And they weren't issues that happened in transit.

It was a distortion pedal, and it was way overboard noisy, unless I turned my highs and mids all the way down. I've used hi gain pedals before, but this was unmanageable.
I see. This should be a simple return/refund. As a seller, I would never expect the buyer to keep something the aren't happy with.

Well it's such a sticky situation when you have an electronic gadget like a pedal. Buyer cries "foul, it doesn't work correctly", seller says "it was ok when I shipped it"......aside from considering a seller's feedback and using one's own common sense, it comes down to taking a gamble.

I'm my two cases, the first seller had good feedback and was praised by other tb'ers, the second had almost a hundred positive feedbacks.

Let's just get all the facts out here and see what everybody else thinks...

-Buyer made an offer on a pedal that was listed as mint condition
-Seller accepted the offer, tested the item, and shipped it to the buyer
-Buyer receives distortion pedal and complains that it's too noisy, then contacts seller
-Seller asks a few basic questions and determines there must have been a legitimate issue during shipping and agrees to a refund
-Buyer ships item back to seller
------------------------------
-Seller receives pedal last night but did not have time to open and test at that time
-Seller opens, inspects, and tests item right before leaving for work
-Seller finds NO issues at all.
The pedal works perfectly with a single coil loaded bass while being listened to through studio cans
The pedal works perfectly through an amp
The pedal is dead silent, no extra noise found, no issues at all

-Seller responds to buyer to explain that no issues were found at 7:26am
-Seller still has intentions of honoring refund but has to leave for work and will take care of it a little later
-Buyer then responds 5 (five) times with the last response at 8:11am
-Buyer freaks and opens PayPal dispute to get refund at 8:22am
-Buyer freaks and escalates PayPal dispute to PayPal claim at 9:02am
-Seller is driving to work during this time, then...working.
