Ok, things are resolved. PayPal has found in my favor, so my "spouting off" stands.
Doesn't look like the Paypal dispute was necessary (or, possibly, warranted), so not sure crowing about your perceived victory is entirely necessary, either. Glad you're getting your money back! Maybe next time you can keep the transaction friendly instead of assuming the worst and going from copacetic to ballistic in less than an hour(!).

Perhaps the shoe would be inbred other foot if you had a priblrm with a purchase and the seller left you hanging without so much as a "can I get back to you later?"

Let's just get all the facts out here and see what everybody else thinks...

-Buyer made an offer on a pedal that was listed as mint condition
-Seller accepted the offer, tested the item, and shipped it to the buyer
-Buyer receives distortion pedal and complains that it's too noisy, then contacts seller
-Seller asks a few basic questions and determines there must have been a legitimate issue during shipping and agrees to a refund
-Buyer ships item back to seller
------------------------------
-Seller receives pedal last night but did not have time to open and test at that time
-Seller opens, inspects, and tests item right before leaving for work
-Seller finds NO issues at all.
The pedal works perfectly with a single coil loaded bass while being listened to through studio cans
The pedal works perfectly through an amp
The pedal is dead silent, no extra noise found, no issues at all

-Seller responds to buyer to explain that no issues were found at 7:26am
-Seller still has intentions of honoring refund but has to leave for work and will take care of it a little later
-Buyer then responds 5 (five) times with the last response at 8:11am
-Buyer freaks and opens PayPal dispute to get refund at 8:22am
-Buyer freaks and escalates PayPal dispute to PayPal claim at 9:02am
-Seller is driving to work during this time, then...working.
--------------------------------

Thoughts?

uhm: Seller responds to buyer to explain that no issues were found at 7:26am
Buyer freaks and opens PayPal dispute to get refund at 8:22am

LESS THAN ONE HOUR? left you hanging???? really???? REALLY???????

You have 180 days to dispute a transaction, patience pays off.

Yeah...I'd probably give the guy a reasonable amount of time to respond (because, you know, I understand that people have lives and stuff). YM apparently V.

There is definitely a cautionary tale here, but I don't think its the one the OP intended.

Personally I respect people enough to actually maintain a conversation and see it through to a conclusion. The sad thing is that some just don't seem to understand common courtesy

True, common courtesy usually includes adequate time to respond, which one hour is a wholly unreasonable timeframe.

I just read through this whole thing. I don't want to be accusatory, but if I was in the same position I would have at least given the seller until the end of the day. Heck even actual businesses sometimes take up to 24 hours to respond to emails.

True, this was supposed to be a general rant without personal mud slinging
Holy cow. A couple hours and you opened a dispute and a thread complaining? Thank you for warning me to not deal with you in the classifieds. Pure insanity.

If there isnt, there should be a way to dispute negative feedback given on TB.
You started the thread to throw the seller under the bus. Caveat emptor sucka.

Now that's an intelligent response.

I never had a chance to tell PP any side of my story. I simply said okay to your dispute and gave you you're money back.

Look in the dispute, there are NO comments from me.
Sounds like a squeaky wheel wins, and costs us all money.
Every disputed transaction creates more man hours to resolve, and increases costs that will be passed on to the rest of us.
Thanks @4string4ever for helping accelerate increased fees for all of us in the future, we really appreciate it.

AHH I see a "look at me the poor victim" without presenting just how unreasonable your expectations were...

SHAME on you @Dave W for bringing up actual facts, and ruining @4string4ever 's Fantasy Pity Party

Someone simply should not engage in a conversation regarding something of this nature If they aren't prepared to continue the conversation, or at least politely pause it, rather than just dropping it with no word at all. I wonder how many of you who would charge me with impatience would be comfortable with feeling blown off by a seller who has your money and your goods, and seemed to have no genuine sense of urgency about soon the right thing.....
