Believe me, I get the aging back thing and I've always used myself as a test subject for the cabs. I'm 50 and have had knee surgery, elbow surgery and have a shoulder impingement that needs surgery as well. I've broken both wrist and an elbow, not too mention fracturing both ankles. So, I really keep the portability in mind. If it's hard for me to move, then I rethink the design. I just figure that there a lot of really good, smaller, lighter cabs out there and if I try to make a 48lb. 212 cab, then its going to sound an awful lot like like the other guys 48lb. cab. With the ML cabs, we are really trying to do something different. Once we gather steam and start to expand the product line, we hope to be able to offer something for everyone.

One when its enough and two when needed (which may be more than I actually "need" - its not just volume, 2 sounds so much better than 1). I agree with Roger, compromising the design of these cabs to lighten the load would not be a good move. I have no problem moving two 35 lb cabs, but no longer want to move 1 bigger and heavier cab.

I'm in the modular camp as well. One ML112 stays in my car all the time and covers probably 90% of my gigs. If I know I have to carry a bigger room I just bring the second one. I've tried some smaller/lighter solutions and keep coming back to the ML112 due to the sound.

I gigged my back up rig for the first time after doing at least the past 15 gigs with the Baer ML112. I totally understand coming back to the Baer ML112 for its sound. In one project I work in, I am called upon to take several solo's. The Solo tone of the Baer has a sweetness that is pure velvet! Really stunning and I have not heard better. Different yes. Better? Not really. :D

The BB King gig was last night and it was SOOOO much fun!!!

The ML212 absolutely KILLED IT and I honestly learn more about how awesome this cab is every time I use it.

I'm sure some of you know this, but arena sized ginormous stages with huge cement floors and 50 foot ceilings can get really "washy" with myriad frequencies coming at you from all angles and directions... even when you have a pretty solid monitor mix.

Well, even in a situation like that, those hi/mid drivers in conjunction with the "big and tight" low end of that ML212 behind me, REALLY kept everything together for me. It just added clarity to my tone that I could hear and feel... and it made all the difference.

Anyway, here are a couple of pics!

Just checking back in after months of "testing." My rig has remained unchanged for 6 months or so (is that a record?). I'm running a Thunderfunk 800 into 2 x ML 112. It is simply glorious, and it has covered every gig/genre/venue/ensemble/bass I've thrown at it with aplomb. The modularity is a great option, too. Loads are easy, transport is easy, I can go with just one if it's a small format, etc. It is the best I have ever sounded, so a BIG thank you goes to Roger, once again.

It's surprising how much a single ML112 fills a room on it's own. I actually dropped back to only using one of my two ML112's in my practice room because the pair just moves so much air that I'd get carried away and feel my ears getting fatigued. :eek:

I demoed Baer cabs today - the best my Mouse/Tapes,Tobias/SS rounds, and P-Bass/Flats have ever sounded.

Also took my Takamine B10/Tapes.... WOW! Very true acoustic tone. The ML212 smoked with every bass. I'm in love with that sound. :yep:
With two ML112's, the Taki sounded better with cabs in 'L' config (top cab vertical), and with both cabs vertical they sounded even closer to the 212 (when playing the Taki).

I never expected these cabs to sound so good with Acoustic AND Modern AND Vintage sounds. Resistance was futile, I have been assimilated. ;)
