Baer Amplification Megathread!

That's cool. I'd like to start out with a series two ML112 for portability, but would like to eventually add the mythical series two 212. My streamliner 900 wouldn't be able to run that setup UNLESS the new version 212 is 8ohm.

I may decide to get a ML115 (trying to remember what twisted logic I used when i sold my 115 stack) to pair with a single 112. That way I would have more amp options (4 ohm load).

My main thing is having a travel rig that I can cram into an already heavily loaded vehicle. My genz-benz uber 212 takes up a lot of space in the extra cab of my pickup. Makes it hard to fit a bass hard case inside as well. I suppose I could get a gig bag to save room.

Yes.
Absolutely.

Yes, an ML212 would be welcomed with open arms here too. Pretty sure it'll be 4 ohm tho.

Lol, your twisted logic revolved around smaller cabs iirc. I almost contacted you on that sale thread.

I also had a Streamliner. I sold it very soon after picking up the D800 and don't miss it a bit. The D800 is a better amp all round for me anyway.

Mono Vertigo bag gets a healthy nod from me.

I imagine a single 112 is all I'd NEED 99% of the time. The reason I purchased a 2nd 115 was to have one closer to ear level without using some sort of stand.

The stack, combined with the Valkyrie was ridiculous compared to my actual needs. I actually felt guilty for having that rig and not currently being able to gig. It was like buying a sports car, and only driving it to the grocery store.

As I said before, the downgrade of my rig allowed me to buy my current bass (I think this one is finally my "keeper"). The downsize has its obvious portability bonuses.

I don't dislike my Streamliner, but maybe I'd like the Subway even better. At least it would give me the option to add a 4ohm cab to a ML112.

Thanks Jason. I really appreciate that! We did do some experimenting with the Valkyrie preamp and a very high end two channel class D module that was pretty impressive. I'd definitely like to do this at some point. I think that with some preamp tweaks and a power section like this, the Valkyrie could definitely have another shot.

I have to say that now that I have been in this a number of years, I have the utmost respect for the other small companies in the bass amp market. It takes an enormous amount of capital to bring each product to market and it's always a crap shoot as to what the market takes to and what it doesn't. It truly is a labor of love. Thank God that I have a wife as understanding as mine who is willing to put up with all this just because she knows that building bass gear is what truly makes me happy!
I really like that Valkyrie preamp design. If it comes out again with the right class D amp would it be designed to be stable at 2.67 ohms? This would make it useable with almost any cabinet load.

Excellent! Any thoughts on a headphone jack for silent practice?

I tend to think of think of headphone jacks as something that's better suited to a small class D head and not a full size 2U reachable head, so I doubt it would show up on something like a Valkyrie remake.

Hey folks,
I recently was able to purchase Roger's last ML212. I also purchased a ML112....I am moving soon to a smaller place. So I am going to sell the 212 and pick another Ml112 to save space. If anyone is interested please PM me. Comes with a cover(no Baer label). Used only a handful of times.
Drooly.
