Baer Amplification Megathread!

Flux - it almost sounds like you like this cab?! :D

I used to listen to Dave Hope driving Kansas along quite a bit.

My week has been a series of snafu's. When I checked with FedEx Tuesday, they expected to deliver Thursday. Took a half-day off of work and they never showed. Then my computer got invaded with some idiotic mal-ware I had to deal with. Lost my e-mail and tracking number so I call Linda and find out that the cab never shipped. :hmm: Oh well, I took the opportunity to change the shipping destination so I can just receive it at work. Nothing like an impromptu dose of delayed gratification....!

I have no idea what might have given you that impression.

I think it's a great part of an entire system. If I could only own one cab, this would be it. But I can't help but think adding something tasked to bottom end only would be a great addition. Roger has spoken of a 1x15+1x6 cab in the next six to eight months. That might be ~the pair~ when combined with the ML112.

But this opinion is certainly premature. I've yet to try it fully broken in, and with more proper bass gear. So I'd say within two weeks I'll have a solid basis from which to speak from. The Mackie will be here, I'll have more filters in place as more of the modular synth peices arrive from the manufacturer and the preamp is more complete. Keep in mind my joyous rave was based on using a flippin crappy MIC Fender 100 watt Solid State beginner's head with bottom end components .. and it's a guitar amp for cryin' out loud! So it's voiced all wrong. I can only imagine what I'll be treated too once the rest of my system in in place.

Dave Hope: Yea, his fat, dry tone is really great. Really well applied in th studio version of "Miracles out of Nowhere". I love Kansas Mk1 .. everything up to "Two For the Show" is WIN. From what I understand Hope used a picked P-Bass nearly exclusively. I sure like that sound! And I have little difficulty conjuring it up with the Baer ML112 .. even when driven with the wrong amplifier.

:)

A stack of two ML112's move twice as much air and give an extra 6dB which does a lot to give you that fat low end. I'm sure the new 15/6 will be killer but a pair of broken in 12/6 cabs with a real bass amp will provide incredibly solid low end at volumes that can hurt you. I drive mine with GB STM900 and SM9.2 amps which seem to be a good match with these. :bassist:

Yeah: Two ML112's is *awesome*
Stacked horizontal: a little fatter
Stacked vertical: better near field monitoring, for me.

I haven't met an amp they didn't like...

The pair is plenty enough for anything I do.
Nice, light, easily moved, and super build quality.
The covers are quite nice as well.

I like the Tetris/L set up. Bottom cab horizontal, top cab vertical with the 12's aligned. Leaves a nice little shelf, too :D

Apparently only God knows why my ML-112 didn't ship last week, but FedEx set it down gently at the back door of my workplace five minutes ago. Only a few hours until I can take it home and lay my eyes and ears on it! :hyper: Cue "Anticipation" by Carol King... ;)

You'll most likely love the heck out of it.

Those ports actually have ~ports~ that go back into the cab roughly 6 or 7 inches, so they are much more than just the corners of the main baffle bobbed off to create a hole. I just love my ML112.

Still waiting on the blasted Mackie to arrive. At least I have a tracking number now. Hope to see it in a few more days. Then I can get my whole rig up ~n~ runnin' !! I'm still using a cheapo MIC Solid State Fender 100 watt guitar head to power my ML112. Even so, the cab sounds TEETS, Mon!

:)

Alan (Chef) had them for a while for the upcoming BGM review.
Ah, I see. Well then good on ya! I'm sure it's great to have the two of them back home with you!

I am hoping to be able to buy another ML112 in about ten more months. It takes me a while to save up that kind of cash in a lump. That's a big reason why I use synth modules as preamps. They are relatively inexpensive when bought one at a time. $80 bucks here, $58 bucks there, done.

Thanks, now I understand how the baffle is used to brace the box. This feature can't be seen in the online images that I have viewed. I would have already known this if I had just swung by Chef's living room to see them and listen to him torturing Tom's... ;)
