I'm not a Marcus fan, but from what little I know of his sound, I'd say this cab wouldn't hinder you getting there.

...does this cab favor the Marcus Miller type of player or say a Tommy Shannon, which is more where I play. Or maybe both, don't know...Thanks
I find this hard to believe. Having played both the ML112 and a few fEARfuls (and owning a 15/6), my preference is for the fEARful. To my ears the balance of the 15/6 is much more even in how the woofer and the mid relate. I heard the mid driver as more present in the ML112, which may be due in part to the woofer type. Despite my taste preference, I'd be hard pressed to call one "FAR" superior to the other in either case. They are each fine products and will serve as the right tool for the job in the appropriate hands.
The ML's were designed to give good treble response up to what I consider the most usable frequency range to achieve a good, present live sound. When it comes to that Marcus Miller type sizzle though, you really need a tweeter loaded cab to accomplish that. Keep in mind that just because the cab won't do the "Marcus sound", that doesn't automatically mean that the cab is the polar opposite either. The ML cabs can put out a surprising amount of bright top end with a twist of the treble know, or a push of the bright switch. Personally, I can make that cab as bright as I would ever want it, but the Marcus sound really requires a tweeter. A warmer sound is easy to achieve by turning down the treble on the amp, or my favorite, rolling off a vintage tone control a bit.

Ken, my experience was much different. First, I want to say Roger is a great guy and he worked with me quite a bit to help me try this cab and dial in the sound I was after. Though, when time came to talk with my wallet, my money didn't go in his pocket.
I played the ML112 for some musician friends, and in a rock/indie band setting. The comments I got were that the guts fell out of tone, and that the b-string on my Dingwall ABZ 5 lost some of its magic.
Roger and I talked about my setup and signal chain, and came to the conclusion that the Dingwall + Mesa M6 was just to much bright and mids for the cab, and not enough EQ range on the amp to smooth things out. The synergy just wasn't there, and the mid driver was obvious and dominant.
I've since become the owner of a P-bass I love, and I'm also a TecAmp convert. I've found the Dingwall to be lacking in low mid oomph compared to the P and I'm sure that is what translated into my experience with the ML112.
I'd be interested in trying one again, or perhaps the 115 when it is available.
Wonderful box. Interestingly, when I did all my reviews and video clips, most mentioned how close the ML112 was to the final version of the Bergantino AE210 (the vertical version with the revised crossover). The AE210 is my favorite small cab of all time, and the ML112 is quite close to it tonally (and some would say, even better in its own way). Since the Berg AE's are no longer on the market, the ML112 is a great choice for those who are looking for 'small, loud, punchy, and very present but not harsh up top.
Roger, what tone goals are you workin towards with the new 15 cab? Will it be similar to the 112 but bigger, or something different alltogether?
Yes Roger, tell the peoples.
We've been working on the ML115 for a few months now. The ML212 fills the need for a bigger and louder ML112 type tone, so I think we have that tone profile covered pretty well. For me, when I think 15" cab, I think vintage tone, so that's what we are going for. Different voicing on the 15" driver and a different mid. While the 12" cabs have a very modern voice, the ML115 will be all about big, fat vintage like tone. Bigger low end, less upper mids and a less extended top end reach.
As of April. Though I think the choice of drivers was still up in the air when he posted this, so goals could have shifted.
I would say that the goal stayed pretty much the same. Original, I had a different mid picked out for this cab, but in the end we did decide to stick with the Faital mid for this cab as well. Because the woofer in this cab is putting out more and bigger lows, it gives the impression that the mid driver isn't so out front. The cab stays articulate, but has a bigger, more vintage feel to it, which is pretty much in line with the original goal. I'm really liking this cab so far.

Is it safe to assume the ML115 will have the width dimension the same as the ML112 for stacking purposes?

Good to hear. The ML112 does have a bit of a resonant twinge to it that I have to EQ a bit at times. Like it has an audible ~shape~ to it or something.I would say that the goal stayed pretty much the same. This thread is as ravenous as the Mesa Prodigy/Strategy thread. Let the man build. Clearly, he isn't ready to start an internet marketing campaign yet, or we'd see more. The waiting is the hardest part, but no point in jumping the gun.
