Bag End cabs

I have a S15D/S15XD stack and am thrilled with it. I played a small club on NYE with just the S15D (200 people). The single 15 was plenty for my stage volume and the mains picked up the rest. If there had been no PA support for me, the pair would have been plenty. I agree with much of has been said here. They are the most musical little cabs I have had. I really like the small size and the weight on these aint bad. I sold my Aguilar GS212 for these cabs. I liked the Aggie alone but it was dark and (at least for me) got lost in the mix too easy. It is also easier to take the single BE then the Aggie was (though Aggie makes single 12s which are easy to carry). They just sound so sweet. To my ear, much more musical and balanced than any other cabs I've had (Ampeg, SWR, Aguilar). I like the S15D alone better than the the S15xd. The xd is too bright as a stand alone for me. I like the punch and thickness of the small 15s. I'm playing an American Jazz 5 string and a Genz Benz GBE750 in to them.

Love my S15D's!

I once owned a Bag End D12-D 2x12 cab that ruled every mix, a very muscular sounding cab. It was only 70 lbs., but it was the clumsiest 70-pound thing in history. It was just a pain to move, even if you had help. Still, it fit perfectly in the trunk of a Corolla. If you get a good deal on one, it's a great cab.

This was my bliss at the time:

It was baad!

A question for all the bag heads. S12b's or S15b's

I have been on the fence about getting either two s12b's or s15b's for quite some time now. I don't like tweeters, I like matched drivers, controlled low end, strong mids, and wooden highs. But I am afraid of the 15's for some reason. Probably because I have only played 15's by Peavey, Hartke, SWR, etc. The reviews I have read lead me to believe that the S15b's are a better choice but I am still afraid.

For reference I have been playing an ancient sealed Peavey 4x12 cab for the last few years just because I love the sound. But it is big and heavy!

Is this video a fair representation of the sound of two S15b's. Skip ahead to 1:15 or so.

I think it does, but hey, it's my video so I may be biased. ;) A lot of my videos were shot with that pair, so hopefully you can get a good idea of their tone going through a few of them since various levels of OD and EQ settings were used. Don't be afraid of the 15's - they sound more like twelves in their quickness, rich midrange, and great top end. The Bags are very musical - warm, with some nice grind to them. They handle a lot of power, and stay tight even when you crank the bass way up.
