Bag End cabs

Hey Bongo, I dig the rig man. I think I am also gonna get at Bag End.

Does any one know. Is the Low End any diffrent between the S15L-D and the S15LX-D?
I have a guy in two who is selling both, but I only have the funds for one right now. I want a HUGE low end for the Subs in my DnB/Dub band, but I also need the highs for my High Passed LFOing fuzz stuff. Suggestions on which cab will do the most justice to my situation. Also I was thinking a Markbass Little Mark to power the rig, can anyone comment on that amp for my situation?

My experiences with the S15 are the same as many others here, and fit my preferences perfectly in a smallish easy to lug cab.

Small footprint, extremely articulate without what I consider excessive highs, punchy, take EQ very well, built like tanks, cheap, LOUD, and benefiting greatly from stacking in pairs (more authoritative lows). They are my go-to cab(s) when going through a PA, as the lack of huge lows and ability to be heard well from close up make for a cleaner and quieter stage mix.

Though plenty loud, I found them a bit thin at an outdoor gig with an open backed stage, but that was expected.

One of them serves as my practice/home rig, and I can play loud without knocking everything off the shelves, and hear enough detail to clean up my playing without having to deal with all that pesky sizzle. i think they achieve this by having such articulate mids without sounding boxy or harsh like some other middy cabs I've tried.

Finally, they sound great with all my basses and with every head I've used them with, tube and SS.

The S15L is a VERY articulate sounding cab, some may call this "accurate" I like to say articulate.

I A/B'd one of my S15Ls with a Mesa RR15 (EV loaded) and there was no contest. The Mesa sounded nice and punchy (it is my practice cab) but the BE sounded so clear and way more full spectrum. It doesn't need any tweeter IMO. And it has such a nice gritty quality that sits so well in the mix. These are a Awesome cabs.

Hi there!
Sorry for bringing this up, but can you guys tell me which amp do you use when playing to one single Bag End S15?
I recently got one, and i use a GK RB1001-II, and i'm feeling a little afraid to be sending 480W to a 200W cabinet...?
What do you think?

Thanks!

Don't be.

If that was the case, you would be stuck with pretty much only higher powered 210 cabs or 410 cabs.

You can use 10,000 watt amp with it if you want.

Your amps output and the rating on a cab, in general terms, shouldn't be a thought really.
Sure, the speaker geeks will fly in and baffle you with all kind of specs and crap, but the bottom line is your 480 watt amp really isn't an issue to use with the cab. At all.

I have one actually being delivered today, and I use a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 (900 watts @ 4 Ohms, 500-ish @8).
I dndn't even think twice about getting one.

Thanks!
But aren't you afraid to blow up the cab?
I mean, i have already played the BagEnd with the 1001RB, and the problem is that it sounds so good, and sounds even better when you pull the master volume up!
It seems that the cab plays really well at bigger volumes...and then i pull, pull up, pull up...and i think: damn! i'm gonna blow this cab...!

Have any of you ever considered this?
Your thoughts please?

Thanks!

I've gigged the 1001RB-II with a single Bag End S15 with no problems. I generally prefer a pair of them for the extra depth and less worries about overpowering that single 15" (I like to push the dynamics). Use your ears, if the speaker sounds like it's hitting its limit, back off.

I grew up playing my dad's late 70's S15-B and S12-B cabs with an EVM-15L and JBL K-120 (currenty sporting a pair of 80's EVs). When I found a pair of S15-D cabs, I bought them and have loved them ever since (probably seven years now). I had an S12 and an S15X-D and liked them, but much prefer the regular S15-D cabs. We use Bag End cabs for PA mains at our small/medium shows as well.

Thanks!

Never once.

I had a 300 watt 112 that I used with this same amp.
didn't think twice about the cab rating.
I have a 500 watt 410.
Again, never once crossed my mind at all.

If you start having the cab "break-up" or distort, then I would get a little concerned. But if your pushing it and it's not, then I'd say you're fine.

Watts do NOT equal volume.
At all.

I would take a 200watt Bag End 115 cab over the 600 watt Berringer 115 cab.

Bag End cabs.... I have been using the S 15D stack for a few years along with an Eden WT 550 head. This IMHO is a perfect amp for the bars and small clubs....

I have had in the past the Bag End 4 x 10 cab which is an amazing sounding cabinet but weighs in at 110 lbs...I cant deal with that weight so I sold it.

Bag End is a great company and the customer service is tops as well.

I have a pair of S15D's, and they handle a lot of power very well, and sound killer doing it. They never had any trouble taking the brunt of my GK2001RB. Good stuff. They rate their cabs in sine wave continuous handling, which I think is more conservative than RMS.

Thanks guys for your inputs!
Have anyone tried a S15-B with a EBS HD350 or a ShuttleMax 6.0?
I think i'm gonna try one of those 2 heads, because i need to have 2 backlines.
So one would be GK1001RB with SWR Goliath Senior (6x10), and the other would be EBS HD350 or ShuttleMax 6.0 with Bag End S15-B.

Any opinions?
Thanks!

I've run my Bag Ends with the ShuttleMax 12 and it sounded great. I've also run them with GK 1001RB-II, GK MB2-500, GK 800RB, EA iAmp 500, TC RH450, Markbass LMKII & III and they all sound good with those cabs. But my favorite is running my SVT-II (non pro) into a pair of them. That's an incredible matchup. The Bag End cabs sound good with just about anything you plug into them.
