Bag End Club.

This is the way. I’ve been using that combination for years. it’s fantastic.

Your many posts convinced me that I needed to make this happen, and you were right. The 12 brings the low-mid punch that the 15 is missing, while the 15 brings the klonk, whump, and upper-mid grind. Between them, the Jazz Bass is able to speak in its natural voice.

Hey, pardon my busting in here but I've got a Bag End question... I'm looking at a used D10BX-D, the deep 210 w/ co-ax, and I'd be powering it with a GK 800RB. Is that enough to power that cab with? I understand it's a relatively inefficient cab. The GK gets sure enough loud, but is its 300w, in "Full Range" mode, enough to make that cab go?
Thanks for your time.

Whoever said it wasn't an efficient cab never had one... ;)
Great cab!

The spec sheet shows sensitivity at 100dB 2.83V/1m. This translates to 97dB 1W/1m.

Calculated SPL at 300W

[Log(300) x 10] + 97 = 121.8dB.

It's a little on the low side IMHO; however it may be fine for you, or not.

FYI, I prefer a rig capable of at least 124dB calculated.

I used to run an 800RB into a Bag End S15D. The S15D is an 8 ohms cab with a 103dB 1W/1m sensitivity rating.

Calculated SPL at 200W

[Log(200) X 10] + 103 = 126dB. Always felt like I had enough headroom.

It's worth mentioning that the difference between 121.8db and 124db is barely perceptible, if at all. IME the cab is a monster and quite a find if the price is right.

The best way for @Count Bassie to assess the cab is to try it and judge for himself.

Which is why I wrote:

That’d be a K.A. rig.
I’d love a couple of S15b bins under my 800RB. I could sell my compression pedal, too.

The D10BX is cool. It may seem not as loud as the mids are not as forward as they are in the 12 or 15. A little EQ cutting lows or bumping mids helps it pop.

it is HEAVY
I've got a heavy cab or two now, 70 lbs isn't going to sour anything for me. And I! am finding that the 800RB is very mid-forward, I've been using the mids-notch consistently.
Good info here you guys, thanks all!
Oh, @vickerekes , they're asking $350. I've asked for a consideration for $300...

Dude! 300-350 is a good price for that. I paid three for the older shallow model a little while ago. does not have the bass extension very different cabinet.

I use 1-3 s15 cabs with my GK 800rb. I love the tone.

2 S15s sound great with a 400rb as well.

I’m consistently surprised and happy with my tone from the Bag End cabs. I wish I had found them earlier. It would have saved a lot of money, effort, and time.

A full page with no pictures... let me fix that :)

I've owned S12 and S15 in the past, currently I really love my pair of D12... but think I need to pick up an S12-B so I can have the choice of 1, 2, or 4x 12" drivers with my 200 watt tube head.

Can I join the club?

I don't usually join clubs and I have got Bag End cab purely out of coincidence, It was impulsive buy, I wanted 4*12 and that cab was on sale, so I bought it without knowing what I was buying.
You can read about it here

Dude… You totally get to be a member with a cabinet like that. That is a real unicorn you have there.
