Bag End Stack in the House!

most of us played it already :p

Here is mine again

I might pick up a matching S12 to run with a low watt tube head, might replace the AMP with an AI Focus (and add a second D12-B)... but really have no need or want to improve my tone so I doubt anything will change.

IMO, going to a Focus wouldn't be an improvement in tone, it would be a loss of tone.

I know its DSFDF and some people really like them, but they just sound blah and ball-less to me.

I play a 7 string bass in a frustrated guitarist style... and getting to the point my URB might make it out of my home. I run an extensive pedal board that sounds as good direct as I could want it to sound (quite a few tone shaping options within it).

AI's jazz guitar to URB voicings are something I'd like to pursue.

Plus... the 2ohm stability to run a pair of D12-B is part of the reason I was/am considering the AI stuff. Most the 2ohm stable heads I looked at had too much signature color to them.

Luckily the insanely loud gig I was looking at stepping into fell apart and a second D12 isn't going to be needed anytime soon :)

Have spent some time today playing through first the S15-D and then the S15X-D, driven by the Shuttle 6.0.. nice. I'm looking forward to receiving the Carvin BX-500, and will post on that amp into the Bags at that time.

clips? I'm thinking shuttle too.

Anyone ever play BEs with a Mesa Basis M2000? I'm totally GASed for this amp. I LOVE the sweepable compressor, I LOVE the sweepable effects loop. Compress some of the low end, and put effects in the the upper mids and highs, and BAM!!!

Only ever played one through Mesa diesel 410 though.

Anyone here ever played through a BagEnd Minima one amp or active cab/stack? Maybe at NAMM?

I'm very interested in plunkin' one of these into one of my cabs, so I can use my TD-1 ALL the time. Also hoping it would be around the same quality/power/tone as my Berg IP... but obviously without the DSP.

Anyone had experience with one of these? They're only $660... James, how bout you?

thanks,

Pat.

Crappy cellphone pic:

Borrowed GK 800RB (Sansamp ParaDriver on top, pre-input)
S15-D running off the 100W side
2 x S15B's running off the 300W side

I had the amps up 50% and had no problems being heard above two half-stacks and a heavy-handed drummer. I'm thinking of selling my Trace and buying two 800's...

I had posted about this in the BX500 thread as well.

The Bags, powered by the new-for-2009 Carvin BX500 head, also sound terrific. That is a fine combination. I've had a couple of TB'ers PM me about the combination and how well it would work for their band. I think it would work well for a whole lotta gigs!

The thing about this pairing that I like is the extensive tone shaping options on the BX500. The Bags tend to need a bit of tweaking live. The BX500 gives you all the EQ shaping you could ever need.

I'd tend to agree. I almost never play out live with my BE cabs and run it flat. The cabs are EQd to be almost totally flat, and every room is differenct. Most bass cabs have a low mid scoop EQd into them. The BE don't, but lots of rooms get BOOMY between 200-600 Hz. So, I run a parametric, or semi parametric EQ and dial out the resonant freq of the room and I'm good to go.

I'd much rather have it this way than a mid scoop I'm stuck with.
