Bag End Stack in the House!

100_0374.gif

The pistol case on top of the upper cab holds a Walter Woods amp. Really handy little rig.

EDIT -- mods, feel free to shrink or crop this photo to a more appropriate size.

Nice stack! Is that the amp you usually play through these cabs or do you use something else as well?

Here is my in-between stack as I am working on getting another S15L-D to replace the S15 on top. I haven't gigged with it yet but I am really impressed with the sound of these 15s! I had a rehearsal with a loud drummer and guitar and the S15 was all I brought, it was more than enough and I was so impressed with it that I decided to get a stack of 15Ls! I think this will satisfy my modular needs for now.

Cool, thanks for the picture. I've been wanting to add an S15L-D to compliment my S15-D's.

How much noticeable low end does the L have over the standard cab? IYO, is it worth the additional size/weight?

Thanks!

You're welcome. I notice a difference in the low end, it seems to me that it goes a little deeper, but retains the throaty grittiness that I like, especially at higher volume. I really haven't gigged it yet, so that would be the real test.

For me I was looking for a little more girth and I found it in the 15L, I can only imagine what a stack would sound like. It already sounds great teamed up with the S15, so I assume that stacking two identical cabs would give an even better sound IMHO. I am selling the S15 to fund the purchase of another 15L, but even if I don't get my price I will just hold onto the S15 and use it as a rehearsal-light-travel cab, it is THAT good.

To answer your question, it is worth it to me.

I got my second S15L-D, here is a picture of the stack.

Next week there'll be a DB750 sitting on top!

Beautiful. Can I ask where you got your S15L's, and how much they run? is there a long wait? I fink the GK/BE to be a good combination BTW.

How much more low end does this stack have compared to the normal S15's?

Thanks, I got them from John at Bass Emporium down in Texas. I just called him up and talked cabs with him. I would highly recommend him, he was a pleasure to deal with. Not a long wait, I think I had them a week later after ordering, he always seemed to have one on order and It went straight to me. I think I paid $599 plus $50 shipping.

They do go lower and have a fuller sound than the S15, which makes more sense because there is more air volume in the size of the cabinet. (rear ported) I really like them, they sound very full and retain the BE growl especially with the GK head and they are not too heavy. I have nothing but good things to say about these Bag End cabs.

You'll have to let us know what these sound like with the DB750!
I have a DB750 coming soon and have 4 Bag Ends cabs already.
S15-D/S15x-D stack, D10BX-D, D12-D, and a SWR Big Ben w/Bag End
speaker in it.That would make it 5 BE cabs.Yikes!!! Their great cabs!
I 've been gassing for the S15L-D stack like yours and searching for someone who's powering it with the mighty DB750.
I love how you can mix and match the Bag Ends. The DB750 goes to 2ohms so there's a lot of options . We need a gig report too!
Congrats!

I picked up an older EV loaded S15 (flat black paint) about a month ago. I only got to use it on one practice before going out of town for a month, but it did what I expected. I'm considering picking up another, but wanted to know if anyone had played through a stack with one older EV s15 and a new one. Do they compliment eachother, of should I keep looking for an older one?

Mike

Thanks for the post, KPJ. Beautiful bass, too, boy!

I've been remiss in keeping my own thread alive, so here is a bump from the OP. I was generally out of Talkbass for the most part since spring this year, but I've taken a new interest in it and will be posting again.

Fortunately I did not let go of my S15X-D/S15-D stack when I had it up for sale back in the spring. As I sit here typing this now, I can assure the reader that I would have regretted it, deeply.
