Bag End Stack in the House!

Here is the original Bag End stack that started this thread, by MichaelVee, in its new home. Mated up with an Eden 405 amp and my lovely Warwick Thumb Neck Through bass -- we now have a really professional bass sound in compact portable rig. This collection sounds great!! :D

Couple of questions about the S15 variations:

For the X versions with tweeter, does tweeter orientation matter? I'd like to stand my S15LX-D tall ways...

What is the sweet spot for amp wattage? I'm low-powering now but have my eyes open for some more watts...

Good stuff, this Bag End!

It's a co-axial speaker so the "tweeter" is in the middle of the speaker.

It doesn't take a lot of juice to get these cabs to sound good.

Thanks for the response!

I understand the tweeter is place co-axially, I just can't tell if the tweeter's inherent dispersion pattern favors laying out my S15LX-D in stock (long dimension on the floor) or if it matters. I like it in "standing tall" orientation with long dimension vertical.

If the tweeter's dispersion pattern is equally wide and tall, both cabinet orientation should work the same.

Currently, I'm powering the cabinet with my Baby Blue II head, about 120 watts. I've read of folks getting "playing out" volume with a Neo-Pak and up. I'm just interested in getting an idea of the wattage folks are happy with. BBII sounds great and I haven't maxed it out, but...

A bit of a zombie thread revival here. I just ordered a BE S15X-D to go with my S15. It should arrive sometime this week. I got them both from GC's site, used,...the S15 was $99.00,...the S15X was a whopping $149.00!!! :hyper: Color me stoked to have a BE stack for 250 bucks!! :bassist: Gonna run my Aggy 500sc into them, can't wait to hear them paired up. Now,..back to the grave zombie thread!!!

Wow, that is a heck of a deal. Glad to see this thread still alive. I'm finishing my basement (been hanging 5/8" firecode drywall all week, heavy!) so all my big cabs have been in storage for some time. I kept my (2) S15 stack and 800RB out so that I would have something to play through - great, classic combination. I was always amazed at how well they could handle the bridged power of my GK2001 - killer tone too. Enjoy!

GC's used section on their websitge has some stupid deals. I've taken advantage of it many times with zero issues. Congrats... your deal was crazy.

I called Bag End some years ago to ask the same question about the B10-XD. I asked if it was preferable to rotate the coaxial 10" driver by 45 degrees in the baffle to compensate for vertical cabinet placement. They told me it's not necessary; the coax tweeter disperses equally on the horizontal and vertical axis. I took them at their word and never tried rotating the speaker.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'd read something similar in an old thread I dredged up so I didn't worry about it. Have the S15LX-D in vertical position with an S12-D sitting on top. Fun!

My S15X-D arrived in time for Wednesdays gig! :hyper: Gave her the first test drive, S15-D/S15X-D stacked with my aggy 500sc and smiled the entire night! :bassist: It does lack the low end that I'm used to with my aggy gs410, but I got a great growl and some serious clarity with my Ritter going through it. I switched to fretless for the last set and it was instant creamy goodness! This setup won't replace my 410 on any really loud gigs, but on my average type shows, it will be more than enough to cover most of the rooms I'm playing. A big thanks to GC's used online listings for occasionally selling things at stupid cheap prices!!!!:hyper:
