Bag End Stack in the House!

Figured show some bag end love and revive this thread...

Hey James: 2x12, right? How's that Egnater working for you on bass?

Yup! It's a D12-B. I'm loving the Egnater so far, the EQ has plenty of range for bass and the transformer seems beefy enough to handle the task. I've never been a player needing uber-watts on stage, but I do think the head on this cabinet will hold it's own with a 1x12 guitar combo (or 2) and non bashing drummer.

Wow, these last 2 really look so cool.
Are those 15" ?
Embly: That rig must sound wonderfully warm with the WA!!! Hey, how do you keep the WA from sliding backwards?

I'm guessing that they're both 15s... The EA Micro is 8.5 inches wide and a BagEnd S-15 is 18 by 18 by 15 (the S-18 is 22.5 inches wide). The cabinet looks about twice as wide as the amp, which would make it a 15.

Or, taking the easy way out, looking at both people's profiles (which you can do by clicking on their ID, etc.), they're both 15s.

Last night I gigged my: Streamliner 900 - S15D + S15XD stack with my P bass. I was in tone heaven all night! We had a photographer, so maybe there will be some decent pics...

I've said it plenty of times that the Streamliner and BE cabs are an awesome match...and I've heard that the Streamliner and a P bass is a killer match as well. Last night was the first gig with it for me, and they were right. With the tone knob wide open I had a very aggressive P tone and with the tone rolled off, I had a very warm and punchy P tone. I got a bunch of compliments from the musicians in the crowd about how it (and everything for that matter) sounded.

Next smaller gig, I think I'll take my Walkabout as well...do a little A/B live testing.

yep, the rig is a EA Micro 550 > S15-B I love this rig.

I used to rock a Aguilar DB750 > Berg HT322 and that pushed tone through like a stampede of wild horses, beautiful-raw power but most of the time way too much then needed

the EA Micro > S15 is more like a battle axe, cuts like crazy and easy to carry

I bought this here on TB, I think it was made by Ultimate for geetarz.
With the S15 it is a precarious balance until you add the head. There is a telescoping mic adapter on the vertical tube, the head rests against that. Once it it set up it is very stable. It is also excellent used with my little GK MB combo. Fits in the ol gigbag!

Good to see a renewed interest in BE S15's. Emblymouse, I'm glad you bought one, you were always very encouraging to me about Bag Ends.

I've definitely had seller remorse about letting my S15 stack go. I had spent a fair amount of money with Bag End buying the replacement jack plates with Speakons. The stack sounded good with just about any head or rack setup I tried it with. Ultimately, I let myself fall victim to the various latest/greatest cab whims at the time on TB. And now I think that I never should have let those two cabs go.

Projectapollo might have kept my cabs a couple months but then turned around and sold them. I wish I'd stayed in touch and bought them back from him.

Anyway, I'm thinking about another go around with the S15s, especially after reading about how they sound with the Genz Streamliner head, which I have. The Streamliner has a bit much on the low end unless the bass control is rolled off a bit, so that bass emphasis, coupled with the S15 rolloff, must really be a good combination.

Emblymouse- Thanks for the information on the stand. I appreciate it. Seeing that I found that K&M makes something similar but it is more than double the price.

Yeah, I don't know if this thing is still being made, I got lucky.

Michael, I did the same goose chase of cabinets you did. Found some really good stuff but in the end I just got tired of thinking about it! The size to weight to sound ratio is right on for me and I've always been a 15" guy. Considered getting these co ax but these just sound so natural full range.
I'm proud to be associated with Bag End and back with a stack!. My only regret now is I didn't order these in birch.:hmm:

Same here... had and loved an S12 + S15 stack for years. I actually sold off my gear for a couple year break from music and in coming back jumped through a few 'buzz' brands before playing some BE stuff and remembering how awesome they are. I instantly contacted BE and ended up going with my D12... and other than a couple more BE cabs, I am now cab GAS free :D
