Bald headed men, and Self Esteem

I started balding in my late 20's...i have shaved for 7 years and i'm bald and beautifull....chicks did it...mainly my wife and its the solor power for my sex machine:smug: I allways say when asked why i shave....god started it and i finished it...bald rules!!!!

Mostly bald, but keep what's left at about 1/8". I used to hate it, wish I could just shave it off and be done, but my wife refuses, says she likes the buzzed down look.

We were at church a while back and I feel this little hand on my head and hear this wild giggling. I kinda turn around. A baby - maybe 12-15 months old was just running her hand along my freshly buzz-cut head and having herself a grand old time. Her mom tried to pull her back and the kid started having a hissy. Every few minutes, I felt that hand, heard that giggling. My wife was in tears she was trying so hard not to laugh out loud. I smiled all the way through service because of it, and ever since, it really doesn't bother me anymore. One less thing to worry about, actually :) Though, I wonder if my wife would've been laughing had the baby's mom been doing the feeling? heh

I had a 5 yr old nephew who was diagnosed with cancer. (He's 13 now and you'd never know) Anyway, when his hair started falling out, his father and I shaved our heads in support. I just stuck with it, it's much easier. Just rub your head with a towel and go, no bad hair days. At this point I'm afraid to grow it back, it would probably be mostly gray. LOL

I laugh when I hear the 'Hair Tranplant' commercials.

I try to imagine the vanity and esteem issues male clients of
those procedures may have and then I am not sure such people can truly exist.

Then I look at Mark Latimour's first post on the bass babes thread and realize they do.

There's a book that's a fun read about baldness (and cures) called "Hair! : Mankind's Historic Quest to End Baldness"
by Gersh Kuntzman ... I learned that the first baldness cure was rubbing hippo fat into the scalp.

After reading the chapters on transplants, there is no way I'd ever think about it.

Girls used to look at my head and comment that they could see scalp! This was junior year in HIGH SCHOOL folks. Like low tide,it just receeded further and further. around '95 I shaved it. Chics definately dig it! At gigs they'd rub my head like a crystal ball. Now that Im 37, and re-married I thought I'd look into Dr Bosley and the crew to replenish me!
My wife will have none of that. She absolutely loves the bald head!

I've got way too much hair (and very thick hair, might I add). I can get my hair cut fairly short today, and it'll be long, thick, and unmanagable in 2 weeks! Barbers always comment about how much hair I have, and I have often told them I'd wished I were bald. Tried shaving all my hair off once, about 20 years ago... I looked downright scary. So, I guess I'm cursed with all this hair, which will no doubt still be there when I'm 110!

Twin sons of different mothers we are, X. :)

I don't need a haircut every two weeks, but about every month. Plus my hair will not grow long, only bushy.

The girls are always looking for me! :smug: (or is it the police? :p )

Mike :D

The best move I made was shaving my hair off..nothing worse than the whole comb it around thing:rollno:

I use electric clippers either with no guard or with shortest guard. I save a fortune in hair products, hair cuts etc and love that whole getting out of the shower and ready to go thing...shame my wife takes like an hour to dry her hair, still alows me a bit of extra bass practise while I wait;)

No self esteme problems here thank you:hyper:

I used to work with a guy who started going bald in high school. He was 22 or so and he went to one of those hair transplant places. Wow. That stuff is nasty looking when they first get it done, before anything starts to grow.

I couldn't look at it, all scabed over and bloody. It looked funky and in rows (like how they make hair in baby dolls). I cant imagine going thru all that just to have hair. I felt so bad for the kid, it was so nasty looking the boss made him wear a hat to cover it up. He hated wearing a hat because it hurt so bad. Plus I think he said it cost like $5,000

+1

I used to have crazy thick hair that grew really quickly. I'd have to get a haircut every 3-4 weeks. Now Im 18 and on Propecia : /
I started balding at around 15, but nothing really serious. The doctor said it was noticeable and so did my friends... I finally did something about it last year. The drug is helping, but has some mild and unwanted side effects... one of them being that I can't donate blood : (. Im thinking Im goign to have to shave it all off in the next few years so that no one makes fun of me for balding.
My mom's dad was bald at like 20, but my dad's hair situation isnt all that bad. I wonder what will happen to me....

Mine started receding at age 29, and rather than try to hide it, I shaved it off. It's been that way for 12 years now, and can't imagine it any other way. I actually like it better. ( [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]). Plus, for some odd reason, other guys don't mess with you when you're bald. I guess they must figure if you walk around with your head looking like that all the time, you must be crazy enough to really, REALLY not give a ****. :D

Bald is good.
Unnecessary drugs with side effects is bad.
My .02.

I think you will be just fine.

I reckon your confidence makes a huge difference, not how much hair you have.

I think both bald heads and long hair can be really sexy. Whatever you have, just carry it off and be yourself. Please don't weave or transplant.

No-one seems to have mentioned that baldness is related to the male hormone testosterone. The very essence of manliness!

On the whole I think men get a much better deal when it comes to the problems of ageing!

Personally I've always wanted to touch, not bald heads, but those with really, really short hair

p.s. Chris A - hope you're recovering. Best of luck!

Not bald yet, but prepared to do it. I told wifey before we were married that as soon as the hairline goes too far back or the bald spot shows up, it's all gonna hit the floor. I'd just rather not mess around with it.

He's a question for y'all: how do you keep your baldilocks? Do you prefer a razor, clippers with no guard, or do you use that razorless cream stuff?
