Band name problem?

You "thought of" those names? Which ones did you reject?
Just go with the best one I heard on Talkbass yesterday: Stingray Crack.

OP...... now is not an optimal time for those names
I also highly suggest short names instead of longer ones....five or six characters tops. Reasons include:
- easier to remember and recognize
- stand out from background on any visual media, printed or online,
- clubowners don't use as many letters on the marquis.... subliminal things like this are always plusses
- standout more on merchandise and allow some merchandise options that longer names wouldn't look near as good as

I want to make sure I read this right. Naming the band "really offensive" is preferred to naming it "offensive".
I do think that If I was in a band named "really offensive" I could expect to have a lot of fun. I do agree that the word "dance in a band name can really sound bad.... an example "Really offensive dance"

get em with the old dancing plague so they can't even stop. dancing plagues were real and I was in a band named after the largest plague for a time. Frau Troffea.
I think both of those names are fine but mediocre, and not because I dislike the word “dance”.
Names are not that important, but keeping it short and one word does help people remember it. It can be bad and if you’re good it won’t matter as long as it is memorable. Like “The Police”. Terrible name, great band. “Oingo Boingo” might have held them back some.
Rather than “Dance Infection” go for “Danceitis”. Dunno, not worth a lot of sweat though. Just be a great dance band and things will fall into place.

So, to answer the question, "Epidemic" is not the problem. The word "Dance" is.

Just cut to the chase and name your band "Really Offensive".
Or, "Lost Cat". I see their flyers everywhere.

I don't think they would offend much, though there is always someone who will get offended by anything. Between the two I like Dance Outbreak better because it has fewer syllables and flows better. Don't spend too much time on the name, there are more important things to worry about.
How about "The Contagious Coughs" or "The Lung-Chokers"? But seriously, leave "Dance" out of the equation...
