Band 'Tinder'

CL ad from quite a while ago: WANTED, bass player that takes a shower and doesn't fart all the time! (Still makes me laugh)

I played with a drummer whose mission seemed to be to eat the world’s most gas-producing meal quickly, right as band practice was about to start. And then have a few beers during practice. Sometimes his stomach made it through to the end of practice, and sometimes he had to go excuse himself for 15 minutes. In either case, we had to leave the side door open to get fresh air in so we could breathe. Literally had to stop mid song bc the singer took a deep breath and was gagging, or someone made a b-line to open the door wider and step outside. Drummer thought it was funny. These guys were in their 40’s - as if age made any matter to male maturity. :roflmao:

(standing near the drummer, I’d just quickly pull my shirt up over my nose and continue playing. The guitarist across the room would have about a 5 second warning!)

"We gig every weekend and twice on long weekends...." - swipe hard left!

Band that practices weekly and gigs 6x year. “We’re not in it for the money.” I’m not either but it doesn’t mean I want to make $6 and two drink tickets a night. And get off my lawn!
We get together to play music once a week when possible, simply because we like playing music. I wouldn't call it practicing, it's just playing music.
I generally dislike gigging because I get to do the vast majority of the work, lugging and setting up PA, mixing from stage etc. (venues with a decent PA are very rare around here).
Factor in the packing, driving, setting up, playing 3hours, pulling down, driving, resetting up the studio and it can easily be a 6-7 hour day to be paid less than I earn in two hours at my day job all the while stressing about sound due to bad room acoustics etc. OR we can play in my studio, enjoy making music, have great sound that isn't too loud and not have a care in the world. We're doing our first gig this year in a couple of weeks..... I only agreed to it because it is in a good room with provided PA and sound operator.

In my area, nearly all the best music is being made by musicians under 25. Young people here are booking festivals left and right, getting picked up by big name acts, getting signed by reputable labels, etc.

Passing on musicians for being under 20 seems strange and arbitrary when there is so much talent out there.
If they're mature, practice their parts, arrive to rehearsals and gigs on time, own a car, have pro-level equipment, don't arrive high or get high at gigs and rehearsals, and don't let their GC practice riffs give them license to try to run the band, then maybe... otherwise, talent alone doesn't cut it.

I'm well over twenty. Hanging out with those under twenty would be weird.

There's a big difference between under 25 and under 20.
