The Carpenters, in the 1970s when each played other instruments too.
I used to have an .mp3 called "Power Fusion Bass Crunch" with Stanley Clarke, Les Claypool, and a drummer. I have no idea where it came from, though. Some searching seems to indicate Victor Wooten was also involved...but I never heard anything VW sounding on the track.
Here's Shannon Jackson Live at
Melvin Gibbs on fretted bass and the Rev. Bruce Johnson on fretless.
Notice Vernon Reid on guitar.
I'd really love to have an Ibanez fretless like Bruce Johnson plays here....
Jah Wobble and Bill Laswell have done a few two-bass projects...
That was great--Thanks!
Ned's Atomic Dustbin.
Girls Against Boys has two bass players.
That's my brother in law Rick Frank's band, Elephants Memory, they had 2 bass players at times in their existence. The bass players at the MSG show were their's, Gary Van Scyoc and John Ward. Elephant's Memory were backing John in 72, and on the "Sometime In New York City" record, tv appearances etc.
My brother in law, that band, and his connection to John Lennon, NYC, and the rock n roll world are why I got into music decades ago. Sadly he passed away in 1998. He was my brother and a big inspiration to me. I miss him alot, daily. Elephant's Memory were a great band and often overlooked within their creativity. Ahead of their time. Look up their records.
Big Business was just drums and bass at first, I don't think they've every had 2 bassists.
Hell ya Dumpsta Funk!
Spinal Tap, Big Bottom? They ALL play bass in it.

earth wind + fire, but only one of them actually plays.
Dumpstaphunk; two basses that really seem to compliment each other playing mostly New Orleans Funk.
