I actually get NESN here in NY by reasons I'm not obliged to talk about here, so I don't really have that problem. But of course, you are talking about a game like today broadcast on Fox. Being that I live outside of MA., I don't get red sox radio here, so I am forced to listen to the drivel that the announcers spew out. I don't put to much stock in it though, and mostly ignore them.

That sux, will AM 1420 out of Pittsfield make it to you or is it too weak a signal? How are the Yankee radio announcers? If I find myself wanting to throw my beer through the TV with the national guys, I probably would have a hard time with the Yankee announcers as well.
We used to get 1420, but I haven't tried in years as it is usually too grainy. For a while, we were doing that online radio thing, but not this year. I don't watch YES or listen to the Yankee radio station. I'd rather not watch the game at all than listen to those guys.
It is very hard to match Don and Remy. Those two set the bar for ball game tv commentators.
Much better game this time.
Was Wang throwing at Youk?
Probably not but Youk did step out and called timeout late on the pitch before which I understand is a deep affront to the delicate sensibilities of pitchers - bases loaded or not - the batter needs to pay for that and not forget who is in charge
.
Of course the ultimate payback is to win and better yet that the guy that replaces the guy that you injured gets a key hit - baseball karma isn't usually that quick.
Nice move by the umps to not give warnings after the Wang pitch - essentially giving the greenlight to Beckett's properly delivered retribution. All even - tomorrow is another day. Who has the better 40-something year old pitcher?

Well the Tigers beat Santana and the Twins tonight. The Yankees lost, So the Big Cats are within three games without Bonderman. And damn the Boston Bullpen, why did they get Gagne so they could give up seven runs to the Yankees? Should be two.

Gagne didn't give up the runs to lose the first game of the series, Okajima and Papelbon did.

The thought crossed my mind that with a 5 run lead that Friday night's 8th inning would have been a good place to use Gagne. Oki may be a bit fatigued and the Yanks have seen him enough that they have him somewhat figured out. I'm not sure that Francona has the confidence in Gagne yet that he has in Oki. Plus Gagne is coming off some time on the DL.
That was a very good ball game. Not the best outcome; but you got to like how Schilling pitched and how the Sox came back against Chamberlin and Rivera.
Good piece of managing by Torre to go with Damon in left and Minkevitch at first.
A few funny things

- Jon Miller asking Joe Morgan how did the Yankees entice Roger out of retirement. Thankfully, the inning ended before Morgan had a chance to answer but I have a feeling he couldn't believe Miller even asked. My 14 year old daughter suggested that it might have something to do with the 18 million that the Yankees were willing to pay for a few months of work - smart girl if I do say so myself. I guess you don't need to be a Hall of Famer to answer that question.
Glad to see Joba's scoreless streak end.

With the bullpen that the Sox have I just don't know why they didn't get Schilling out sooner. It's not like the pen can't handle it. Get the best out of a pitcher and then sit him down. It's a team sport!
I would have left him in. He was cruising, low pitch count. The pitch Jeter hit wasn't his best stuff but it wasn't that bad.

Damn. The Tigers really need this game tonight against the Tribe. They had a nice lead, but Leyland put Zumaya in for the third straight day, I think, and he gave up three runs in the 8th to tie it. In extra innings now, and I'm down to the cuticle on my fingernails.

If the 1978 Yankees could blow a 3.5 game lead with 12 to play, I'm sure that the 2007 Yankees (who have many of the players left over from the cough-cough 2004 Yankees) are capable.

still tough for the Yanks to take the division though. Sox have 10 games to go and even if they went 4 and 6, the yanks would have to be 8 and 3, to give Sox 94 wins and yanks 95. seems unlikely, but you never know! on the plus side, for me and other Yank fans, Detroit would have to go 10-0 the rest of the way assuming that the Yanks would play 5-6 the rest of the way.the clock is ticking in baseball............
