great picture - he's wearing the away uniform so it is not US Cellular Field in Chicago(Cominsky) and since the pads are blue not green, it is not Fenway Park. Anyone know what stadium this could be?

On further investigation, I'm going to go with Yankee Stadium. The guy in stripes seems to have sunglasses on his head, which wouldn't be too necessary in the Skydome.

Of course, this could be inter-league play, which would allow for the possibility of Turner Field in Atlanta, but I don't think the ChiSox have played in Atlanta, and the line in Turner is further away from the wall than that one in the picture looks to be.

My vote still goes to Yankee Stadium.

We now interupt this Sox/Yankees lovefest to report that the Marlins do, in fact, still suck. That is all.

The only glimmer of hope is that I'm seeing a great batting order starting to form (Uggla, Cabera, Ramirez). They could be contenders in a couple of years if they figure the pitching.

What a brawl! First and foremost, I think Boston really dodged a bullet by winning last night. With the Yanks rumbling like a tank the Sox division lead would have been down to 4, with all the bad memories of seasons passed floating around. Mojo and all that. By winning, they dug in exactly when they needed to for the end run. It might have meant the division for them.

But it also looks like Wakefield got badly roughed up. I have my own pitching woes to worry about though, as Mike M. tries to get back on track tonight. Go Moose!

It was a nice win - good to see everyone (including JD Drew! hitting). With the exception of Wakefield and Dice-K lately, the pitching has been consistently good all year; and the hitting has been very up and down. The Yanks will see the same three starters as last time: Dice-K, Beckett and Schill. Beckett and Schill have been great lately.

IIRC we left NY with a lead of 5 and it will be either 4, 5, or 6 when NY comes to Boston. With Moose on the mound for NY and Verlander going for Detroit - it could be 3 in the Wild Card.

Looking good so far! Moose pitched 5 strong, and got 2 shakier outs in the 6th before being lifted. 4-0 Yanks, bottom 7.

I was surprised to see him pitch so well. That has got to make the Yanks feel good going down the stretch.

The Sox game came down to three words that every Yankee fan should be familiar with -

Big.........Papi............ Walkoff

All five RBI's on two HR; shaky start by Lester but great bullpen work gave us chance.

Guilty as charged - 31 pages, baby . And with the Yanks in town tomorrow, that alone will spawn another couple pages.
If Roger starts Sunday, there is another couple of pages by itself.

But Joshua and I have had some help and there has been some interesting give-and-take on general baseball topics as well.

There are more teams and more baseball fans out there in TB Land. I hope we see more as the division and wild card races head to the wire. Then the fun really kicks in with the playoffs and World Series (at which time the Eurobassists start complaining about our use of the word World) Its all good.

Fall Little League - you guys are hard core. When I was a kid our season ended in mid-August.

I didn't want to get caught leaving anyone out so I'd have to say your steroid posts would have come under the umbrella of "some interesting give-and-take on general baseball topics " But we could go with

Here is what Damon did - he is a genuinely good guy. But what is up with the fan giving him a $20 - is that some kind of crazy Canadian tradition?


Did you see that?: New York's Johnny Damon provided a light moment in the sixth, retiring Rios on a fly ball for the final out, then giving the ball to a fan seated in the front row in left. The fan responded by giving Damon a $20 bill. Damon took the money, ran further down the line, then handed the bill to a young child.

That was pretty brutal. In some respects the Sox were lucky to have a lead late as they benefited from some poor Yankee fielding and some close calls that went our way. The Yanks had their chances against Dice-K and couldn't put up big numbers. The Sox had chances to ice the game and didn't come through.

Some good hitting by the Yanks in the 8th was the game.

That 8th inning was really hard to watch. Who would have thought the two best relievers on the Sox would have blown the lead like that. It was very disappointing...

This is a question for everyone

When your team is being broadcast by the network, do you listen to the national announcers on the TV or do you turn the volumn down on the TV and listen to your local radio guys?

For me, I like our local TV guys alot and if they are not on, I much prefer the local radio guys over any national TV team. Pre-'04 Fox went overboard on the curse of the bambino BS. They still try too hard to jazz up the game. The game is great, it doesn't need to be jazzed.

I just hope the radio tech guys provide the right delay - it can get annoying if they are describing the action too soon or too late from when it is happening on the screen.
