Bass Amp advice

I am new to bass guitar and looking for advice on a practice amp. I have found two options locally 1. A seasoned Peavey TNT160 or 2. A new Orange CR50BXT. Both are approximately the price range I want to spend <$300. Currently, I do not plan on gigging, but who knows what will happen. I am looking for a good sounding solid amp. Any advice would be helpful.

When I started playing, I had no intentions of joining a band, and I bought accordingly. I had a Fender Rumble 75, which did fine for individual practice. I eventually wanted to join a band, and discovered that it wasn't really enough. I eventually bought a separate head and cabinet.

Out of the two, I'd lean towards the Peavey. What else is available in your area?

Spend a few extra and get this;

Compact, powerful (200w) with pro features. Later you can add the extension cab (cheap) for a 2x15 rig @ 250 watts.

Much more flexibilty and quality for only a few extra bucks.

One thing is for sure, playing bass solo is not near as much fun as playing in a group. So, you're going to want as much bass rig as you can afford, sooner or later. Read the faq's and stickies to learn all about bass amps, speakers, and playing with guitars and drums. Hint, you need more juice, and more spkrs than the guitarist does.

Out of the 2, I'd take the Peavey, its the more gig worthy of the two. But there is much better out there as has been pointed out already. You have to experience what works and what doesn't, its a journey. But out of the two that you mentioned, you'll get more mileage out of the Peavey.
