man i'm very sorry but thats not my bass.. its just the most beautiful bass i've ever seen.. its for sale on ebay for $12K (original 1953)
but it is kind of the bass that started it all )

Well, that confirms it - I now know I could never afford my BYB! Looks like the original owner reversed the bridge cover as soon as he brought it home! It's fairly common that players reversed them but I wonder if it was merely a visual thing or if they felt it allowed a bit more access due to a larger opening?

cool.. i didn't notice that.. i have never owned a precision but want to real soon. (and then i'll be broke again )
i think it must be the accessibility bit coz it doesn't look better to me reversed (or maybe thats just me)

birth year bass… yah, I don't think it looks better reversed either - the factory position is all about the design flow tapering toward the length of the instrument. Kind of referencing a rocket ship w/little wings - zoooom!

Beautiful! What's the story on the embossed numbers? What year is it?

Its a '66. I have no idea what the numbers are. I have since replaced the chair leg strap button with a regular strap button. Its got a really nice neck and the pickups are no name but sound really good.
