Bass Beauty Pageant

He's an Austinite, and a right cool dude.

Yes, It was Dark Horse that built my favorite bass (and my nomination for the Beauty Pageant). He called it a "Hobocaster"

Some crazy, over-the-top boutique instruments can definitely venture into the realm of tackiness, but I think most of these are pretty classy. Purely subjective.

It comes down to personal tastes, which are insanely personal/unique! I love certain wacky designs for one reason or the other, even totally club-footed odd-ball/left field/***? designs. Then I also love the perfection of a classic P or J. Once the blinders are widened (or better still removed!) - the world gets a lot bigger!
