i really like the idea of having a strap across the face of the bass to keep the bib in place. but i cant seem to find one like this online anywhere

thanks

My late wife made me one like Ron's.
I'm not aware of any place to get them, but any seamtress can make one for you by you taking some rib and C-bout measurements off your bass.
I quit using them because I was always getting my thumb hung up in the neck joint strap. You don't really do much damage to your bass by not using one and the little wear and tear is looked on as a "personality" trait on older basses.
EDIT: That strap is elastic, so it stays nice and tight.

Things are quiet around here, so what the hell.....
I liked my custom one the best, similar to Ron's in that link, because it fit so tightly around the upper shoulder bouts and snug up in C-bout that there wasn't all that extra material hanging down.

When I do one of my weird persona's here @ TB I've talked about a bow quiver made to fit match my chicken skin skirt.
I'm thinkin' of have my designer whip me up a bib of that very material to match, thanks.
Here's a link to the thread where I've posted a pic of the raw  material. Maybe don't look while you're having breakfast...

David Gage in NYC sells them like that; with the tie around strap.

Indeed! I've gotten two from Gage. His wife makes them, as I recall. They are not always listed on the site. Give 'em a call. FWIW, I've also used the Kolstein bib and did not like it. It flops around too much.

I have two of the Gage bibs. If the rib is too wide, they don't work so well. I like them, but they don't have pockets.
I also have two Kolstein bibs. Which one (Gage or Kolstein) I use depends on the gig.

Pockets? My pants have those-- don't need 'em on a bib. :)
