My approach only makes sense if you want the results to be boring - what you predicted from simulations. If you want adventure, chaos, and surprise in your results, my approach sucks.

I think folks that haven't worked in Engineering sometimes miss this - If your simulations aren't accurate and consistent, you need to look into why they aren't - those kinds of results means you don't understand something.

Sorry I wasn't clear. It was totally reactionary and in a rush to go skiing...but happy it raised the hair on your neck It would have done the same to me. I thought it was clear but I did not qualify my statement. CAD programs are not always accurate. In my opinion. And, as far as I'm concerned that's the most wonderful thing about math and science does not share it. There is only one math and I love it. Books are wonderful but having to take a class on Russian literature or any author with a professor that has been teaching the same class for years and "knows what the author meant with every word" and you see it different...not so much wonderful.

There are very good simulation programs (and obviously the math behind them) and there are some amazingly poor programs. The key to success is to choose the best tools, understand them and learn how to use them.

I prefer 2x10 and with this Genzler BA210-3 SLT ( punch, loud, definition ) love my Ampeg 610HLF but was able to sell it because of this incredible cab

. I may add a one of 12T cabs for outdoors if needed but stays in the trailer for now.

I am blessed / cursed with the compulsion to design and build my own cabs. I've also "done my research" as they say. Over the years I've learned that from a DIY standpoint, a design that meets my needs with a single driver is likely to be the most "efficient" in terms of cost, weight, complexity, and so forth. I don't believe there's a special sound associated with any driver size. More important are the characteristics of the drivers that are actually available.

Right now most of my gigs are satisfied with a 1x8 that can handle roughly 100 Watts. I also have a 1x12 if I need to be super loud.

I built a ported box using the Faital Pro 8PR200. It doesn't work well enough yet, for me to blog about it. There is fairly severe port turbulence, even at relatively low volume. It's completely cured by HPF, but doesn't work stand-alone, and I'd like to be sure that I really understand what's going on before going public with it.

I switch btw Aguilar 4x12 w/DB 751 tube amp & Fender Super Bassman 8x10 or 4x10 for big arena/Halls and For Smaller Venues Fender Rumble 800 head,Aguilar DB700&Aguilar DB/SL 112x2 Cabinet or Fender 4x10 or Eden 112x2. for really small gigs I’ll use Combos:
Roland Cube 120XL (12”Speaker)
Fender Rumble 500 (2x10)

I too have had just about every single and combo of speaker/cab sizes. 1x18, 4x10, 2x10, 1x15 etc etc. But I recently purchased a RevSound 212T and I have to say I'm in heaven. I also have two of the PJB C4 5" cabs for home practice and very small gigs. The 212T is aligned vertically so it takes up very little floor space which is a HUGE help for the kinds of gigs I play. Plus, it removed any stress about which cab to bring. I was always thinking and re-thinking my decision to bring just the 15, just the 210, both and so on. This eliminates that decision and allows me to stress on just which bass to bring and whether to bring a backup, change the battery...you get it.

Finally, the single cab is light at only about 32 pounds. I can basically do a one trip load-in/out and that is great. And because it's on the tallish side, I can hear it without propping it up on something or tilting it back, even if I'm pretty much right in front of it.

How heavy is the ReVSound 212T? Wattage? I’m looking for some cabs sometimes playing in aloud bands I feel like 112x2 starts to distorts/farts if I crank the lows…

If I were in a situation requiring moving around frequently I get a Barefaced cab, not sure which one because I don't need to be.

As is, I've got my still very health 4 ohm Eden D410XLT which can handle any amp head and pretty much any situation.

Yes, I agree. It's a special cab. I've used many cabs with 15's , but this one is a gem. I'll probably order another one to stack, but getting it from Petaluma to long and McQuade in Canada takes as long as a covered wagon journey across the Prairies.

That is obvious. Like everything in this world; from vehicles to ice cream. There are, and I have several. From ok to what I'd consider the best. Point is even the best programs require valid input data. That's where the disconnect comes and requires further work. You should be able to extrapolate what I'm referring to.
