Bass cables different than guitar cables?

Takes out the round wound zing? Which means to me the sound is dampened, therefore compromised. Flat wounds for me are for eliminating the zing.

It sounds like he's trying to sell a cable that's bad by saying "erm, look! built-in low pass filter on this cable!"

I bought a bunch of cable remnants at an auction back in the '80's. Mostly 16 gauge with other sizes mixed in. Various lengths. Spent a few bucks at the electronics warehouse getting jacks and made up a dozen or so really nice cables. Had the ends colored and everything. Still have a few. Haven't had to buy any cables in a while and after hearing/seeing the prices of Monster they weren't even on my list. I'll do what worked the last time. Belden cable on sale and decent jacks.

I don't understand all of the Monster cable hate! I've owned and used one for many years now and never an issue with it. Oh, it's the one made for bass guitar.

I strongly hope you won't have any issues with a super over priced cable. For the price I guess they can make it at least a little more sturdier than normal cables.

I guess that the hate is justified by the amount of vagues claim they make about their product. IMHO they could add to their sale speech that their cable solve hair loss too.

Sure there is a lot of 'Snake oil' being peddled for anything not just Music and electronics market. Innovative and creative designers trying to produce a better product have enhanced my Listening and playing experience and for that I am thankful. But those companies need Sales and Marketing personnel since many engineer types lack those skills. Those who pay close attention in any field understand the value of quality.

Selling that lamp cord is all you need or Squires are better than or equal to 1500+ basses, Fender Rumbles outperform amps 3 times there price and both are all you need, etc.; This is selling 'snake oil' in a different flavor and you don't have to buy that either.

I bought a Monster cable 15 years ago. It sounds good
and is still working. Molded connector ends are rugged.
As far as being superior for bass and whatever claim
I never bought into that. I use active basses and they compensate
for any signal loss or tone.

ive had 1 mosnter cable .. bought it in 2007ish.. still have the one monster cable...i did buy new cables recently. but i wanted to try something new and different.. pig hog.. they are pretty good

I buy these cables in bulk … they usually last 10 years or more … I carry several with me … at the first sign of any problem they get thrown away and replaced with a new one

sure --- and i have a couple of fretless bass cables, too! more mwah. and they're unlined!

I find that the unlined cables affect my intonation during position shifts. It definitely has nothing to do with my technique.

I’ve got 2 Monster Bass cables that I won as part of a sales spiff at GC 15 years ago. Great quality, sound fine, and never had an issue. Whatever their sales jargon is now I’m sure it’s the same as it was back then. I sold tons of them when I was a guitar slinger because they made me butt loads of GP PLUS it gave the customer (and me) the reassurance that if it ever failed for ANY REASON they could bring it back in and get a replacement AT NO CHARGE. So true know if that’s the case now but back then they were a win/win.

I seem to recall someone testing the Monster bass-specific cable and finding that it had really high capacitance, which would indeed roll off the top end (on passive basses anyway). So yes, that cable does actually do something real but I'm not convinced that what it does is desirable. And Monster and ESP are definitely on the low end of the "audiophile" cable spectrum. Cables costing thousands of dollars are pretty common in that industry and the claims around what they do or don't do to an audio signal are specious at best.
