THANKS !!! so I just got back... from going everywhere and here's what I found out

1: SWR goliath jr... errr something I didn't like
2: Carvin, I didn't know carvin was down there in hollywood 2 doors down from mesa.. for 400 otd, it's a nice cab
3: Mesa Boogie, talked to John that 2x10 is the cleanest tightest sounding of the bunch, I liked it quite a bit
4: Eden, much like the SWR, I didn't like it
5: markbass, ya know it's thumpy and deep sounding I can see why EB uses them it's got that thick ya know... THUMP... I liked it, but it does seem to color the sound considerabally
6: aguilar... the warmest tone I heard all day
and my current favorite
7: Epiphony UL4x10... ok they didn't have a 2x10... but to my ears this sounded the best... it didn't have the crisp tightness the mesa had... but it wasn't overly warm like the aguilar... it was RIGHT inbetween..
.... I checked an EA speaker and although it sounded great it was missing punch or something, it sounded like a really nice PA cab... <shrug>

Unfortunately I didn't get to play a berg... noone had them :scowl:

Going to check to see what's sold what's not... and pull the trigger tonight or tomorrow... I liked the epiph, mesa& aguilar in that order... all 4 different reasons...

let me know if anyone has any other ideas...

and THANKS AGAIN!!!

did ya pull the trigger?
I wouldn't have made a poll if I wasn't going to pull the trigger :P

I pulled the trigger on a mesa 4x10 powerhouse... it was a great deal...

I tried to pull the trigger on the SWR Goliath 3 4x10 but seller backed out, I'll find another hopefully local.. 350 seemed like a good deal.. I want to A/B these to cabinets at home for a few months..

now I want a 2x10 jazz rig(I kinda like the aguilar the best.. shrug it's really warm)... I missed out on the bergie 2x10 for 475 which would have been great... and the epiph 4x10 for 675 would have been great too... the aguilar is cheaper so I'll prolly pick it up tomorrow

so in short...

Yes pulled the trigger on a mesa 4x10 and am still on the lookout for another 4x10 clean box and/or a 2x10 or 4x10 (warm rig)

Thanks for the input... it was invaluable... I hadn't considered mesa boogie for bass until this thread, it's very crisp and clean, I'm happy... I'll keep an eye on the sales.... (which is where I purchased my head unit)
